Principal's Pen - A message from Principal Chris
Hello MES Sea Lion Families,
International Peace Day was celebrated at MES on Friday. The entire school created a human peace sign on our field. Soon we will have an aerial view to share with our parents. We also enjoyed a performance by students in honor of peace, and those bring more peace to our community and world. Peace Day was organized and led by community leader Zoe Langley. Zoe plans to hold five more student performances over the school year. The next one is in October and it will be called Dios los Muertos.
In honor of International Peace Day, students at Malibu Elementary created Peace Postcards.
Zoe has connected with Kihei Elementary School in Maui. We are sending these postcards with messages of understanding, love, peace to the children in Maui.
We will also send them a print of our human peace sign that we took Friday morning.
November 9, 2023 will be the 5 year anniversary of the Woosley fire in Malibu so we all understand the significance of showing our support for Maui.
Before-school Power-Hour now has nine students enrolled! Our students are enjoying DreamBox and Lexia time. (Thank you PTA for purchasing Lexia year after year for all MES students!) Your child can join too. Here are the details and sign up form. The program repeats each Monday and Wednesday until winter break. I hope my efforts help our students.
I will be in touch with you next week.
Thank you for your partnership,
Proud Principal Chris Hertz
