Important Carline Reminder and Updates - October Edition 🚗
Dear Franklin Families,
We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the early days of autumn. Can you believe it's already October? Time surely flies when we're having fun and learning together at Franklin Academy.
Today, we have an essential reminder for our car line procedure that will benefit us all in the mornings and afternoons. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
🚗 Carline Reminder 🚗
Please Pull All the Way Up!
We kindly request that all parents pulling into the car line, whether during drop-off or pick-up, please pull all the way up to the front. This simple act of pulling forward allows us to expedite the process, ensuring a smoother experience for everyone. The more cars that pull up, the quicker we can get our students safely into or out of school.
We would like to kindly remind everyone to please remain in your cars during drop-off/pick-up to maintain a smooth flow of the carline. We understand that mornings/afternoons can be hectic, and your children's safety is paramount to all of us. By staying in your vehicles and following our guidelines, we can collectively enhance safety and expedite the drop-off/pick -up process.

Handbook Highlights:
Arrival Procedures- Tardy Policy Implementation
We are enforcing our policy regarding tardiness. We believe that punctuality is an important value to instill in our students, as it not only contributes to their academic success but also prepares them for their future responsibilities.
Under this policy, any student arriving late to school (7:30 AM for Elementary students and 8:30 AM for Middle School Students) will be marked as tardy. Parents will be required to park their vehicle and report to the front office to sign in your child. You will be required to bring in your ID to scan it through Raptor to record the tardy. We understand that there can be occasional circumstances beyond anyone's control, and in such cases, please ensure that you communicate the reason for the tardiness with the school office as soon as possible.
Late Pick-up
Parents of students in grades K-5 not picked up by 2:45 p.m. will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. Parents of students in grades 6-8 not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. October IB Learner Profile Attribute of the Month: Open-Minded
IB LEARNER PROFILE: OPEN-MINDED
Students who are open-minded understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view and are willing to grow from the experience.
Inquiry through play: Why is it important?
From birth, children are ‘hands-on’ natural inquirers and learn through playful interactions with people and their environment. Play is an essential aspect of a child’s healthy development. Through play-based learning, children develop and nurture fundamental knowledge and skills. Learning in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) is based on ‘approaches to learning’ skills (ATLs). These skills aim to support children of all ages to become learners who know
how to ask good questions, set effective goals and pursue their aspirations with the determination to achieve them. Play is important for social, emotional, physical and mental wellbeing of children. Children are curious and capable learners with a sense of agency, rich in potential, bringing valid skills, preferences and understandings of learning. (IBO.org)

Finance at Boynton Beach
Students in Ms. Simpson's Personal Finance class are learning about the importance of credit scores and sharing that knowledge with others. They were tasked with creating a brochure that lists the different credit score ranges and the decisions that can positively or negatively impact a person's credit score. They also created a pie chart that breaks down the different factors that impact credit, such as length of credit and payment history. Understanding how credit works is essential to their financial success!
Congratulations to the Employees of the Month at Boynton Beach!
Mrs. Gervais- Testing Coordinator
Mr. Warley- PYP 5 Teacher
Ms. Kidd- MS Science Teacher
Ms. Rice- Elementary School Aide
Important Reminder: Uniform Policy Adherence
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's uniform policy.
Our uniform policy plays a crucial role in maintaining a focused and disciplined learning environment, and it helps instill a sense of unity and pride among our students. To ensure that these objectives are met, we kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that your child is in proper uniform when attending school.
We are now enforcing the uniform policy, and students found out of uniform will receive infractions. We believe this step is necessary to uphold the standards we have set for our school community.
We understand that there may be instances where items are on back order. In such cases, we kindly request that you send an email to Mrs. L'Etoile at letoile.alison@franklin-academy.org with either the iUniforms receipt for the items you've ordered or an email confirmation indicating that the items are on back order. This will help us keep track of any delays and ensure that students are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.
Please remember that all uniform items must be purchased through iUniforms to maintain consistency in quality and design. http://www.iuniforms.com/
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
