Another update on 8th Grade End-Of-The Year Information & Graduation Celebrations
Dear Eighth Grade Students and Families,
Graduation is here! We can't wait to celebrate with you!
CELEBRATION EVENTS:
8th Grade Luau Party - Thursday, June 1st from 12:30-2:45 PM @ TMS - Students can purchase a school lunch or bring lunch from home. Snacks and treats will be provided by the PTA. CLICK HERE to sign-up to help with this event or share a donation.
TMS Graduation Ceremony - Thursday, June 1st at 7 PM @ Buffalo Grove High School - See below for specific details.

Graduation 2023 Details
GRADUATION PRACTICE:
This will be held on the morning of Thursday, June 1st at TMS during periods 1-3 with homerooms Unless otherwise specified, this rehearsal is mandatory for all students attending the graduation ceremony.
TMS Graduation Ceremony ~ Thursday, June 1st at 7 PM @ Buffalo Grove High School
- DOORS OPEN AT 6:20 p.m. - NO TICKETS ARE NEEDED!
- All children 17 and under must be with an adult.
- OUTDOORS: Weather permitting it will be on the football field with unlimited seating for family members.
- INDOORS: If the weather fails to cooperate, the ceremony will be indoors in the gym with limited seating. While we will not require tickets for this event, we ask that each family be respectful and limit guest attendance to ensure immediate family members can attend comfortably.
- This event will not be recorded or Live-Streamed and there will not be a rain date.
- If this event is moved indoors, we will do our best to share this information with families in a timely manner.
GRADUATION GUEST SEATING & HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY:
The ceremony will have open seating (no tickets needed) and both the indoor venue and football field are wheelchair accessible. Both locations will have areas for handicapped seating which are first come, first serve.
GRADUATION CEREMONY ARRIVAL TIMES:
The graduation ceremony will start at exactly 7:00 p.m. Plan accordingly!
Graduates must arrive no later than 6:15 p.m.
Outdoor Ceremony - Graduate report to the tennis courts.
Indoor Ceremony - Graduates report to the BGHS field house.
Family Members/Guests: The football stadium or gym doors will open for guests at 6:20 p.m.
GRADUATION GOWNS:
Gowns were distributed earlier this year. Please check to make sure your gown is ready for June 1st. We do not do caps, just gowns.
GRADUATION ATTIRE:
Students should be dressed in appropriate school attire including shoes that will be comfortable and safe on the astroturf football field. Please note that for safety reasons high-heeled shoes should not be worn by graduates or guests on the astroturf or in the football stands.
GRADUATION MATERIALS - DIPLOMAS, RIBBONS, CORDS & AWARDS:
Diplomas, ribbons, and academic awards will be distributed during the graduation ceremony.
The eighth-grade academic awards will be given to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.85 and higher from 6th, 7th, and quarters 1,2, and 3 of 8th grade.
Cords will be distributed on Thursday, June 1st at the end of the school day at 2:40 PM when the students return to homeroom following the 8th Grade Party.
GRADUATION CEREMONY PARKING: The parking lots at BGHS will be accessible for TMS graduation guests.
POST-CEREMONY INSTRUCTIONS:
**PLEASE CREATE A PLAN to reunite with your graduate outside of the football stadium (or school) after the ceremony. Students will exit the stadium (or gym) following the ceremony.
GRADUATION EVENTS PHOTOGRAPHER:
Many thanks to the TMS PTA for their assistance in funding Something Blue Photography for the 8th grade Luau Party event as well as our graduation ceremony. Families can select to download photographs from the Something Blue Photography site following both events.
8TH GRADE YEARBOOKS
- Yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday, June 1st at 2:40 PM when the students return to homeroom following the 8th Grade Party.
- The PTA is selling a limited number of yearbooks for those students who did not order yearbooks yet. Click here to be placed on the PTA Yearbook waitlist.
- The 7th & 6th-grade yearbooks will be distributed at the end of the school day on June 7th.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 8TH GRADERS IS JUNE 1st:
- The last day of school for all of our 8th-grade students will be June 1st.
- We have graduation rehearsal that morning and the 8th Grade Party that afternoon.
- Students will be dismissed at 2:45 PM.

ACTION ITEM: CREATE A BACKUP USING GOOGLE TAKEOUT

Google Takeout exports your data from your Google account to a zip file that can be stored on
your computer, external hard drive or USB Flash Drive.
This should be done at home, not at school, ideally on May 23rd or May 24th. Must be completed by June 15th.
To create a backup using Google Takeout, follow these steps:
1. Go to http://www.google.com/takeout
2. Sign in using your District 25 account information.
3. Select data to include by choosing the Google products to include in your archive and configure the settings for each product. You can click the deselect all button first to remove all the other items.
Most users will just choose Drive to archive. This archive will only be accessible to you.
4. Click NEXT STEP
5. Leave the file type and delivery method to the defaults
6. Click CREATE ARCHIVE (usually the defaults should be fine)
7. After it is done processing, you will receive an email with directions to download.
NOTE: Takeout will not include items from ‘Shared with me’ or from shared drives

Student’s Remaining Lunch Balance
Dear 8th Grade Families,
At the end of 8th grade, you are asked to make a decision on what to do with your graduating student’s remaining lunch balance. The options are as follows:
Have the remaining balance transferred to a younger sibling’s account.
Donate to District 25’s Bernice Gliege Angel Fund*.
Request a check to be mailed to your home with the remaining balance.
*The Bernice Gliege Angel Fund was created to support children in need in AHSD 25. The Fund provides for field trips, materials, food supplies, lessons, and other needs identified by staff that will benefit the children served in AHSD 25.*
In order to choose one of the options listed above, please complete the form linked below no later than Thursday, May 25, 2023. If you do not fill out the linked form, the remaining balance in your student’s account will automatically be donated to the Bernice Gliege Angel Fund at the end of the school year.

Event Participation Information
As we've stated before, it is our wish that every 8th-grade student participates in each of these events, therefore, the expectations below must be met. In addition, we are unable to refund fees paid for events.
- (1) All fourth-quarter schoolwork obligations must be completed and turned in, and students must be passing all fourth-quarter subjects or have taken advantage of all recommended academic supports over the duration of the 4th quarter; and
- (2) Students must demonstrate appropriate behavior (not receive multiple behavior incidents or any suspension days, either in or out of school, during the fourth quarter); and
- (3) Students must meet all financial obligations including library books and technology fees and fines.
- (4) Additionally, please note that in order to participate in the graduation ceremony, students must have at least a 1.0 cumulative GPA for 8th grade. T
