FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
With classes now concluded for the summer, preparations are well underway for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. This includes reviewing and ordering educational supplies, updating and repairing facilities, and preparing detailed plans for re-opening in August. To this end, this afternoon the Rhode Island Department of Education released more detailed guidelines for school re-openings. Please take a moment to review my memo to families regarding the new guidelines and our intended path to developing an appropriate, responsive, and detailed reopening plan.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to order your 2019-2020 Yearbook, be sure to do so in the next week! The 2019-2020 school year was certainly a memorable one, and our Yearbook beautifully captures these memories and celebrates the many achievements of our students. Visit the Lifetouch website: YBPay.Lifetouch.com and enter our Yearbook ID code 1866620 to order! Please note that all 8th grade graduates in the Class of 2020 will receive a personalized Yearbook free of charge - no need to order!
Finally, I want to take an opportunity to thank our beloved art teacher, Mrs. Cheryl Olszewski, for her more than twenty years of service to our students and school community. Mrs. Olszewski announced her retirement at the conclusion of the academic year and will not be returning to Fr. Doyle School in the fall. While I only had the pleasure of working with Mrs. O for one school year, her passion for all forms of art and her deep love for our students was always evident. Her joyful presence will certainly be missed!
With that being said, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Debra Danis will be joining the Fr. Doyle community as our art teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. Mrs. Danis holds a Master's Degree in Art Education from Rhode Island College and brings over a decade of teaching experience to the position. Please join me in welcoming her to our school community!
Wishing you all a restful weekend and a blessed week ahead.
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
