A Message from Principal Dr. Sandra Roy
South Families!
We want to extend a sincere welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. It is an honor and a privilege to partner with you to provide the best educational experience for your child. Teachers and staff have been working diligently to prepare for our students’ return. I am excited to get our year started with an open house this week. You are invited to attend “Meet the teacher” night from 3:30-6:30 pm on Thursday, August 17th. You will have the opportunity to not only meet the teachers, but food will also be provided from 4:30-6:30 pm in the cafeteria.
If you are a parent of a kindergarten student you may join us for kindergarten preview. This will be held on August 17th from 8:30-10:00 am. Specific information is linked here.
Educationally yours,
Dr. Roy and Dr. Cooper
Meet Our Staff
Administrative Assistants
We are the South Elementary secretaries, Jana Bowline and Kimberly Krasko, and we are here to help you! Listed below are some important things we would like to draw your attention to:
- If you are planning to volunteer in the building or have lunch with your student throughout the year, please be prepared to have your Drivers License/ID scanned into our visitor database during your initial visit. You may also complete this process during Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 17th.
- If your child's afternoon transportation is changing, please call the office at 417-582-5905 by 3 pm to inform us. We ask that you speak to one of us directly versus leaving a voicemail.
- If your child will be absent, please call the Absence Hotline at (417) 582-5905, option 2.
Counselor
- First, I provide a lesson to our students every month with a focus on social/life skills and career readiness.
- Second, I help kids who are having problems whether they be at home, school, or anywhere in between.
- Third, it's my job to make sure every student at South is SAFE.
Parents, if you have any concerns for your children that I can address please don't hesitate to reach out to me at paulgoode@ozarktigers.org.
Nurse
I am Nurse Erika, and this is my second year at South Elementary. I have been a nurse for 7 years and worked in the operating room prior to joining Ozark School District. I love my position at South Elementary, and I am so excited to see our returning students as well as meeting our new students and their families. Here are a few things from the nurse’s office to keep in mind as we begin our new school year.
- All students need an updated immunization record on file. These can be faxed, emailed, or dropped off at the front office.
- Medications CANNOT be brought in or taken home by the students. Parents/Guardians must bring medications into the school and must pick them up.
- If your child has an Emergency Action Plan from their doctor, a new updated copy must be provided from the doctor’s office each school year. This can be faxed, emailed, or brought in by a parent/guardian.
- Below is a tool you can use to help determine if your student should stay from school due to illness. I wish you all a happy and healthy school year.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Information
Thank you for helping us keep your child safe!
- If possible, arrange your seating so your child exits from the passenger side of the vehicle.
- Always pull forward as much as possible (don't stop at the #5 cone if you can pull forward to #1-4).
- Students may only exit the vehicle at the cones. Please do not allow your child to exit your vehicle if they must cross traffic in order to reach the building.
- Please do not park and walk up to the school entrance during car drop off.
South Updates
Together we make a Family!
Family Time
We are excited to start something new at South this year. Each grade level will be assigned a day to attend community time once in a five day rotation. To better match our theme we will call it our Family Time. This will be a time students will come into the building and go to breakfast if they need to and then on to the gym or just go directly to the gym. On the grade level assigned day, students will start their day together building community and fostering connections with one another. Family Time will be led by Dr. Roy, Dr. Cooper, Mrs. Little and Mr. Goode. Lessons will be built around our Portrait of a Graduate character words and our PBIS school-wide behavior expectations.
Family time will begin on Monday, August 28th from 8:15-8:40 and will follow this schedule throughout the year:
Day 1- Fourth Grade
Day 2- Third Grade
Day 3-Second Grade
Day 4-First Grade
Day 5-Kindergarten
