Accelerated Reader in the Library
Hey, kids!
Each nine weeks, students who read in the library before or after school with their parents will earn a ticket to go into the drawing for the Nintendo Switch at the end of the school year. You will also get a ticket every time you earn a point goal (K & 1st) or certification level (2nd & 3rd). The more you read, the more chances you'll have to win!
November/December Character Trait
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are free for ALL students.
Meet Peg Sundberg Author of the Cowgirl Peg Books
Author Peg Sundberg will be visiting Bonham Schools on Tuesday, December 12th. She will meet with students throughout the day, sharing her Cowgirl Peg Books with interactive discussions of their character-building messages. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase personally-autographed books for special events, especially Christmas which is approaching.
Students may purchase books by returning the order form which will be sent home prior
to the visit. Peg never charges a fee to schools and relies instead on book sales to
students. This process allows her to visit many schools that cannot otherwise afford an
author visit.
She is a native Texan who resides in the Hill Country. Now known to thousands of children, parents and educators as Cowgirl Peg, she visits hundreds of schools around the country, presenting her books & preserving the importance of Western Heritage. Each book delivers positive character messages through entertaining stories including her horses and dogs. After experiencing a horrific shooting, the Santa Fe, TX. schools invited her to spend 5 days working with their students on empathy, kindness, tolerance of differences, etc., using her books for open discussions.
Her newest book, Crooze on Croozer, arrived earlier this year. Croozer, a little blind dog,
tells his own true story. He shares his adventures and challenges, using his superpowers
of hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling and touching. The author’s goals for this feel-good,
thought-provoking story were two-fold for readers of all ages:
• Increasing the awareness & appreciation of being blessed with sight.
• Encouraging and inspiring readers who “see” through their superpowers
instead of their eyes.
This new book was publicly presented by Peg, along with Croozer & his “Mom,” on
CBS’s Good Morning Sacramento (CA). Royalties from Croozer’s book sales will be
donated to the 4 non-profit animal rescue groups that collectively saved him.
Endorsements include Ruth & Nolan Ryan, and the TX School for the Blind, which plans
to convert the text to Braille for their students.
Peg’s dream of writing books is a reality. Her biggest reward is positively impacting the
lives of young readers. All the books can be viewed on Peg’s website:
