WHOLE SCHOOL MASS - Our first whole school Mass for the term was celebrated last
Friday 28 July and prepared by the Year 3 students and teachers. As a school community, we gathered together for the first time with Father Israel. It was a lovely Mass to begin our school term, focusing on Unity and Community. Father Israel’s homily explained to the children beautifully about the importance of relationships and friendships, and the value of face-to-face interaction, not just online through social media.

We invite all families to join us for our next whole school Mass at 9am on Tuesday 15 August, prepared by Year Two. The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important feast days of the year and a Holy Day of Obligation on the official Roman Catholic Church calendar. The Feast of the Assumption is the principal feast of the Blessed Virgin, the mother of Jesus Christ. This holy day marks the occasion of the Virgin Mary's bodily ascent to heaven at the end of her life.

PAUL LITHERLAND - On Thursday 10 August, our school will have the pleasure of hosting Paul Litherland, for both a student and parent presentation. Paul is a renowned cyber-safety speaker and owner of Surf Online Safe. He will be presenting one parent session, to be held on Thursday 10 August at 6pm (Term Three, Week Four) in the Library.

Paul will share his experiences as a WA Police Officer in the Technology Crime Investigation Unit and speak about the need for students and parents to remember the impact of their digital footprint, maintain levels of privacy when using apps and apply methods to remain safe in an online environment.

Paul’s parent presentations will cover a wide range of topics and will last between 1 to 1.5 hours depending on questions.

Subjects covered may include:
– Cyber Bullying – Legislation surrounding this and how it is affecting our children.
– Digital Citizenship – Where our children are going online, the Apps they are using and the information they are sharing.
– Online Footprint – How easy it is to find children online and what they can do to minimise their risk.
– Social Networking & Networking in general – How the systems work and how to overcome their reach.
– Online Gaming and Website Use – Risks and uses.
– Tips & Tricks – How to keep an eye on your children through software and hardware. Easy instructions on what we can do to keep them safe.

Paul is very much in demand and has been presenting to children and parents at many schools over the years.

YEARBOOK - We are excited to be in the process of creating our 2023 St Peter’s Primary School Yearbook with 3P Photography. This year the St Peter’s Primary School Yearbook was not included in your family school fees, as per previous years.

Our Yearbook will be the same structure as the past, including our school photos, class pages, and a variety of photos and details from specialists and other school events held throughout the year.

All families are able to purchase a copy of their Yearbook from the link below. You are welcome to purchase multiple copies of the 2023 Yearbook you would like one for each of your children.

Please note, that you will need to order and pay for your Yearbook now, and that the Yearbook will be distributed to families towards the end of Term Four, to ensure that we can include as many events as possible in the Yearbook before it goes to print. Families will have until

NAPLAN -Today our students in Year Three and Five will be bringing home their NAPAN results. In your child’s envelope you will find their individual student report, as well as an information brochure for parents. These results will also be available via SEQTA on Monday.

I would like to congratulate all our Year Three and Five students for their hard work and outstanding effort over the four NAPLAN assessments. They should all be very proud of their results!

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY & STATE CROSS COUNTRY - On Tuesday 25 July,
St Peter’s Primary School competed in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival at UWA Park. We achieved an exceptional result, coming fourth overall! On Thursday 3 August, St Peter’s Primary School also participated in the State Cross Country competition at UWA park. It is a tremendous honour to be able to represent our school at these events and I would like to thank and congratulate all students for representing St Peter’s with pride, displaying great sportsmanship and competitive spirit.

INTERSCHOOL SPELLING BEE - On Friday 11 August, amazing spelling students from
Year 3-6 will represent St Peter’s at the Regional Interschool Spelling Bee held at Trinity College. The children were selected to participate in the interschool competition by winning an onsite school competition, where they were required to spell words with a varying degree of difficulty.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION - Last weekend, our Year Four students participated in the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. It was a wonderful celebration for the students who received the Body of Christ for the first time. Jesus instituted the Eucharistic meal of thanksgiving at the Last Supper. Some of these elements are evident in a simple family meal. Each time we gather as a faith community to celebrate the Mass, we commemorate the Last Supper. During the consecration, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ (transubstantiation). This reminds us that Jesus died for us and gives us spiritual strength to live our lives as Catholics.

Congratulations to all our extraordinary athletes who recently competed in the cross-country carnivals! Over the past two weeks, our students have showcased their talent at both the Interschool CPSSA Competition and the State Champion Schools Cross Country Carnival. Despite contending with challenging weather conditions, our determined students showcased their dedication, securing an impressive 4th place overall out of 16 schools in the highly competitive Interschool CPSSA Competition. Their resilience and sportsmanship were evident in every stride they took. Furthermore, at the State Championships, our students competed with enthusiasm and determination against an astounding 94 different schools.

A special mention goes to our exceptional athlete, Madeleine Epton whose outstanding performance secured her an impressive 10th place in her race and an exclusive invitation to join the prestigious State Team – a fantastic achievement to be celebrated!

We extend our gratitude to all the supportive parents and family members who spared no effort to stand by our athletes on both exhilarating days. Your encouragement and presence undoubtedly played a pivotal role in motivating our students to perform at their best.

AMELIA SUITER - TWO MAROON - Amelia, you are like a ray of sunshine with your beautiful smile and friendly nature brightening our classroom every day and touching the lives of those around you with kindness. AOIBHINN HEFFERNAN - PRE PRIMARY WHITE - Aoibhinn, from the moment you started Pre Primary, you have continually demonstrated the TRUE values in all that you do. When deciding who was deserving of the Junior Person of the Week award, you were the first person who came to mind.
