OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2022
LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP
Dear PTA Members,
From pep rallies to assemblies, students experience the power of community through shared experiences. Thanks to the PTA, our campuses are bustling with volunteers and special programming.
As a testament to the power of our community, more than 8,300 individuals have expressed interest in working with our students this school year and have undergone background checks. Whether this means they are helping in the library, covering lunch duty for teachers, or chaperoning field trips, each volunteer models to students the importance of community.
Across the district, students work on building their own communities and, oftentimes, it happens in the library. Our libraries are special. They are creative spaces where all students are welcome to dig deeper into their passions and have the freedom to find new ones.
Our libraries are open, inviting, and filled with makerspaces, games, technology, and, of course, books. They are the heart of each campus where you’ll find some students in groups engaging, laughing, and chatting, while there are other children thankful for a moment of solitude. It’s safe place for so many students and community that the librarians facilitate is unmatched.
If you haven’t already taken the time to stop by the library, I would encourage you to stop by! Ask for a tour, get to know your librarian, and check out for yourself just what a fantastic community they are building. And watch out, their passion is contagious.
In Frisco ISD, all of our librarians have master’s degrees in Library Science and Information Studies and have wealth of tips and tricks at the ready to guide the learning of everyone on the campus, including FISD staff. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more passionate and compassionate group of educators and I’m so thankful for the community building they facilitate.
As PTA members, you are part of the fabric of our campuses and are instrumental in making sure students and staff feel supported, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership. Your presence on our campuses builds a community and for that, the district is perpetually appreciative.

LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Hello Frisco ISD Families!
I can’t believe we are approaching our 2nd nine weeks of school. I hope that your families are staying healthy and well. This year is much more fun as we can do all the “normal” activities. I love that everyone has adjusted to blend the ideas and programming that we have used over the last two years with events that are true to your campus. Such fun to see campuses light up with activities and fun!
We will continue to bring district wide programs. Our partnership with the district’s Guidance and Counseling Department is allowing us to bring more targeted and thoughtful programs. Please be on the lookout for more information.
Membership is looking so good this year but we cannot stop!! PTA ADVOCATES for ALL children. What is advocacy? ADVOCACY is speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves! That’s US!!! We have an important legislative session coming up in January. This is where your membership counts.
More members mean we have a LOUDER voice to make a difference for our 65,000 FISD kids. Are you a member yet? Even if you don’t have a current student, we still need you! Having a great partnership with our community is what makes our district so special and successful!
Everything we do is for the benefit of all our students in Frisco ISD. We would love for you to join us to help us support our future teachers, workers, business owners, district leaders or in other words, BACK the FUTURE! YOU CAN PTA… EVERYONE CAN PTA… HOW DO YOU PTA???
Looking forward to seeing all the successes that this year will bring!
Yours truly,
Terri Palmer, President
Frisco ISD Council of PTAs
