WHS Principal Post - September 2022

With two weeks under our belt we are now in full swing of our regular school routines! Thank you all for helping to make this a successful start to the 2022-2023 school year here at Hammerschmidt!

During the first week of every month, this family newsletter will be published highlighting the upcoming events. In most cases, this will be in addition to the weekly email blasts on Friday afternoons. This publication will also be posted on our school website for your convenience and future reference.

By now you should have received some grade level content information in video format from your child(ren)'s teacher. Sending this information in video format was our attempt to provide everyone access to this important information without the burden of securing childcare.

Using this delivery model last year was met with positive feedback.

On Thursday, September 8th, from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. we will host an OPTIONAL “Open House” drop-in style visitation for parents only. The purpose of this session is to provide parents interested in getting in the building an opportunity to do so. Teachers will be in their classrooms for any individual questions you may have. There will be NO FORMAL PRESENTATION given during the session. All the grade level curriculum and classroom based information will be provided in the videos sent to you prior to this date.

Your attendance at the evening visitation is not expected and is entirely optional.

All students will be issued a tech device from their classroom teacher once school begins. Students are free to bring their device to and from school. See the links below for additional information.

WHS PTA MOVIE NIGHT: FRIDAY, 9/9

WHS students can enjoy a two-hour evening hanging with friends!! Movie will be shown during the event in the Gym. $5 per child, must be a WHS student. Doors open at 6:15 PM; Pick up at 8:15pm in the gym. Register Here.

Your membership, donation and involvement help support the many amazing programs the WHS PTA offers throughout the school year. Joining WHS PTA is a great opportunity to meet new people and build meaningful relationships, get to know our school’s teachers and staff in a fun, low-stakes environment and connect to important school and community resources that benefit/support your child.

The purpose of Walk + Roll is to increase students’ physical activity on either end of the school day and perhaps create new habits for your family. Incentives for those who bike or walk 3+ days during Walk + Roll week. Please contact WHS PTA Wellness Chair, Kate Cross with any questions.

Parent Committee Members Needed for the Talent Show! The Talent Show Committee loves shining the spotlight on our kids and their amazing talent!
