OCTOBER 2023
A Note From the Principal
Hello Wabash Community!
Can you believe that October is right around the corner? Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
Our first quarter will be coming to an end on October 20, 2023. Our parent/teacher conferences will be held in person on Wednesday, October 25, from 4:30 - 8:00 pm, and on Thursday, October 26, from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Report cards will be shared with you at the parent/teacher conferences and emailed to you on October 25.
This year, our Wentzville School District schools will begin the process of implementing the Leader in Me program. We are excited to have this program as a part of what we do! Our faculty and staff are taking part in ongoing training sessions. We hope to start to share some of the Leader in Me lessons and activities in mid to late October this year. Here is some added information about Leader in Me.
Throughout the duration of this academic school year, the Wentzville School District partners with community agencies that specialize in providing students, families, and educators with preventative education. Agency presenters are credentialed, coordinated through the District, and under the supervision of building administrators. Presentation topics are targeted toward specific grade levels. All of the students will participate in each program, unless you choose to opt your child out of the lesson(s). If you would like further details and/or are interested in opting your student(s) out of presentation(s), please click this link here.
This year across the Wentzville School District, some students will be qualifying for a Reading Success Plan. These plans are new this year to schools across Missouri. Please follow this link for information about Reading Support Plans, including frequently asked questions. More communication will be shared with families at our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences for those who qualify for these plans.
Thank you to the entire Wabash community for modeling and expecting independence and excellence! Our students are off to a wonderful start this year. Let's keep our students focused on building independence and excellence in academics and character.
Please remember that Mrs. Naumann, Mrs. Polman and I are always available to support you and your children. Please do not hesitate to stop in, call or email us with any questions or concerns. We are here for your children.
Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts!

STAY HEALTHY THIS YEAR!

● Fever/Chills (greater than 100 degrees by mouth - Keep home for 24 hrs after fever free without the use of medications
● Vomiting (even once) - Keep home for 24 hrs vomit free
● Diarrhea
● General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
● Congested (wet) or croupy cough or constant cough that is disruptive
● Eye is red or crusty - If diagnosed with pink eye may return after 24 hrs on antibiotic drops
To help prevent the spread of germs, teach your children good hygiene habits:
● Wash hands frequently - after using the restroom and before eating
● Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
● Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, Coughing or sneezing into their bent elbow, not their hands.
● Avoid close contact with people who are sick
This time of year can be a busy one! School, Fall activities and sports are well underway. It’s important to not let the habit of reading get pushed to the side. Here are some tips to continue reading even when time is limited:
Have your child carry a book at all times. Your child can read on the way to practice or while watching a siblings’ practice.
Think ahead about your schedule. What nights can your child sit and devote 20 minutes (or more!) to uninterrupted reading? What nights will you need to be creative?
On nights when time is limited, can your child listen to an audiobook on their tablet or phone? Could you listen to a book as a family?
Some reading (20 minutes) is better than none.
