👀 Some Important Things to Note...
We are so excited to have all of our kids back! And I especially want to thank all the parents who volunteered at our Material Pick-Up through our PTO and provided snacks for our Staff Appreciation event on Thursday. Our parents are the absolute greatest!
THE START AND THE END OF THE DAY
Start Time: when kids should be seated and in class, ready to learn at 8:40 AM
End Time: 3:40 PM
Here is our Bell Schedule
We will be working this year to reduce the number of students who are tardy to school and class by assigning detentions when this becomes significant.
MORNING DROP OFF
AFTERNOON PICK UP
And if you are going to pick-up your child in the afternoon, you will pick them up at the Norris Center. Here are video directions to watch with your child on how afternoon pick-up works.
TRANSPORTATION
Late buses the first morning or two: Buses will be a bit late the first morning or two. Just have your student stay at the bus stop until it arrives.
Late Buses in the PM: We are 100% certain that your child’s afternoon bus will be late for the first week or so. The route right before middle school is elementary. It takes longer for the little guys to get on the right bus and get off the bus. Please be patient and know that they will run 20-30 minutes late. Each day gets better and better. You can use this live Google Doc to see when your child’s bus leaves Wredling. (Please bookmark that document for future use.)
Make sure your child knows their ROUTE number for AM and PM. Our teachers will do this at the end of the day, but it is smart to put their bus routes somewhere where they can easily find them. Tell them that bus ROUTES are displayed in the side window of the bus. Tell them NOT to look at the bus number on the back.
BUS information was emailed to all families from the D303 Transportation Department.
FOR THE FIRST DAY
- Students should simply bring a pen and paper, and their Chromebook to class first period. Teachers will tell them what they need each period.
- For new students, Chromebooks should be handed out the first day.
- Cell phones and wireless ear buds (or the like) should be “off and away during the day and stored in lockers.” All students should have wired earbuds or headphones. Last year we had major issues with students wearing earbuds in class and in the hallway and they were unable to hear directions from staff. Many streamed music wirelessly from their phones rather than listening to instruction. We also had students bringing expensive Bluetooth earbuds and lose one or both during the day. This caused those students a lot of distress especially when they didn't find their missing property.
- Dress Code: We ask that students come to school dressed modestly. You can find our dress code on page 6 of our student handbook. Some parents might be surprised that their child changes clothes at school. Please talk to your child about your expectations for their dress at school. We do teach our students that they might dress differently at school than they do at the mall than they do at a special dinner. Learning this skill is important.
- During the first 5 weeks of school, we will be continually reviewing the expectations for our students across all of their settings (ex. bus, hallway, classroom, cafeteria, etc.). We will share that information with you after the first week of school or so. We have high expectations for our students and we know they can live up to them!
THE CAFETERIA
It is smart that students bring a lunch the first few days as lunch lines can get long, especially for 6th graders who are learning about their food options and take a longer time to order / get food.
Students are welcome to bring lunch or Purchase lunch in the cafeteria.
They will have traditional school lunch choices available. Menus are posted on the District website on the Food Services page.

If you choose to, please put some money on PushCoin for your child. That is how they pay for breakfast/lunches/snacks.
Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria and will be “Grab and Go” style.
❄️WMS is a Cold Building for Now
Many rooms at Wredling are cold right now! We are getting new boilers installed, so we don’t currently have heat to regulate the AC. We are using outside air to balance temperatures in the room. I would strongly encourage your child to bring a layer or two to wear if they get cold. Our gyms are NOT air conditioned, though students will be going outside for PE weather permitting.
FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON AT WMS
Here is a list of all of our Team Leaders, Admin, and Student Support Team members who will support your child. Please keep this link handy for future reference.
You can also use our Staff directory located on the right hand side of the Wredling Website.
So who do I contact for my concern???
While there are always some exceptions, the general rule of thumb is to email or call:Emotional issues - Counselors
Disciplinary issues - Student Services Coordinators (Deans)
School work issue - Teachers
- In general, if your child needs support, start with the teacher and then the team leader. If you still need help, move to the Assistant Principals (academics) or Student Support Coordinators (Deans) (behavioral).
If you email Tim Loversky (principal) he may forward your email to the right person to handle the issue. Please do not be offended when he does this. The goal is to expedite getting the issue attended to as promptly as possible.
SAFETY DAY THURSDAY, AUGUST 17TH
Prior to Safety Day and on August 17, all students will have a lesson on Safety Day purpose and procedures. Safety Day drills will cover: fire drills, severe weather, and a lock down drill. If you have any questions about Safety Day or would like your student to opt-out of the lock down drill, please email: melissa.hickman@d303.org no later than Tuesday, August 15th at 4pm. We will arrange an alternate place for your student during the drill.
