Inside Centennial Schools
December 15, 2023
Connecting. Achieving. Preparing.
Sharing a Love for Music
The Centennial Middle School symphonic band played a concert for a very special audience--the Blue Heron preschool students! The band is led by Ms. Ringen, music instructor. Not only was the concert an opportunity to hear the performance, the preschoolers also learned about the instruments.
Traveling Trophy
The Centennial High School football team and coaches, led by the Centennial High School Pep Band, visited all five elementary schools and showed off their 6A State Championship trophy. The band led the parade through the hallways where students gave "high fives" to players, congratulating them on the big win!
A Shout Out to Coach Diggins!
Congratulations to Centennial Football Coach Mike Diggins on being named the Randy Shaver Metro Coach of the Year AND the Minnesota Vikings High School Coach of the Year! Diggins is also the Minnesota Vikings nominee for the Shula Award which acknowledges the national high school football coach of the year. Diggins has been on the coaching staff for 33 years and the last 14 years as head coach. He is a graduate of Centennial High School and played running back under Coach Mike Watson. Day Plays in the 2023 MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS 35th Anniversary Concert
Carter Day, a student at Centennial High School and member of the band, played in the MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS concert held in St. Paul. Day was highlighted in a story by MPR.
Celebrating Bluey's Birthday
Students at Blue Heron Elementary were invited to a school-wide assembly to celebrate the Bluey the mascot's 2nd birthday. Bluey often makes appearances at school events to promote and recognize positive school culture.

A Change in Reporting Student Absences
Absence requests for students enrolled at Centerville Elementary and Centennial Middle School need to be submitted using the Parent Portal. The “Attendance Request” link can be found on the Parent Hub of the schools’ websites. Centennial High School will make the switch to using the Portal for absence requests on January 2, 2024. All other schools will continue to use the attendance form on their website and will begin using the Portal to submit absence requests when the new semester begins on January 23. Please contact your student’s school with any questions.
