HITEON HIGHLIGHTS NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2021
Principal's Message
Greetings Hiteon Families,
The end of the year is fast approaching with only two weeks left. Students, staff, and families have been resilient this year with so many factors due to the pandemic out of our control. What we could control we did with the Hiteon Heart beating strongly.
As we begin to set our sights on next year we realize many students have dealt with a lot of emotional stress during the past year. As we envision what Hiteon will look like next year we will need to re-imagine. Our hope is that students will be in classrooms for the entire instructional day. We must position ourselves to assist students’ social-emotional needs. Children are resilient but still need the assistance of a caring community to help them process. Our thanks to the Hiteon community for their continued support throughout this school year and into next year.
We look forward to partnering with you in the future.
Be well, and stay safe!

Staff Farewells
As the school year comes to an end, we want to say our
heartfelt farewells to several of our beloved staff members.
Traci Chelf retired last year from Hiteon. Fortunate for us, she was open to coming back and being part of the PE team. She has done a great job taking her classroom skills to the gym. We wish her all the best in her retirement!
Emma Kimball has been a versatile team member at Hiteon for the past two years. Last year in third grade, she took over for a maternity leave and this year stepped up to teach fifth grade. Best wishes to her and her future teaching endeavors!
Jodi Weisz took over in third grade for Mrs. Davidson’s maternity leave. She quickly became a valued and respected member of the Hiteon staff. We wish her all the best!
Bianca U took over in fourth grade this year for Mrs. True once we began Hybrid. We wish her the best of luck in her next position!
Stephanie Andrews a para in our primary Emotional Growth Classroom, will be moving to Copper Mt. to share her talents in their Social Communication Classroom. Ms. Andrews has been at Hiteon for four years and has been a facilitator of the Green Team for several years. All will miss her kind and positive spirit. We wish her all the best in her new position!
Margie True is retiring after teacher 24 years in Beaverton. Margie has been a fourth-grade teacher at Hiteon for two years. Mrs. True will be missed for her nurturing nature and high expectations for her students and herself. We wish Mrs. True a wonderful retirement spending time with her family!
Dear Hiteon Families,
Lately, I’ve been spending time reflecting on experiences that have brought me joy. Without a doubt, joining the Hiteon community has been a joyful experience. From the moment I became part of the staff, the Hiteon community welcomed me warmly and uplifted me daily. How lucky am I to have chosen a career that has provided me the opportunity to work with all of you!
I am so grateful for the support you have given me and the warmth you have offered over the past two years. I am thankful for the trust you had in me as you left your amazing children in my care each day, whether in person or online. It has been a privilege to work in this wonderful community - the love and dedication you have for your children is warming and inspiring and has brought me so much joy.
I will hold this joy closely to my heart as I take this opportunity to let you all know that I have decided that this year is the perfect year for me to retire. I will transition to working as a district substitute and look forward to seeing many familiar faces next fall.
You and your families will be in my thoughts as we close out this school year.
Happy summer,
Margie True

Playground Summer Use
This summer, Hiteon will be getting a new roof, which means that the school playground will be closed for safety reasons. Starting Tuesday, June 22, no one will be allowed on the playground due to debris falling off the roof and equipment on the premises. Thank you for your cooperation during the summer months.

Hiteon Fun Run
A huge thank you to our amazing PTC and the Hiteon community for the success of the Fun Run, which has so far raised $30,000 for activities for students and resources for teachers!
Much appreciation to the students, parents, grandparents, teachers, neighbors, and friends that supported this fun run. Because of your support, our kids will benefit from more enrichment programs like the Science Fair, OBOB, and Art Literacy, and fun school-wide events! In addition, because of the hard work of our students and community, our teachers will have funds next year to enhance their classrooms, and the PTC can continue to support PE, Music, and Technology specials.
Your efforts have helped to set our school up for success next year!
