Nurse Kayla News
Happy April!
This month we are focusing on physical activity!
As a parent, you play a large role in your child’s physical activity, including how much physical activity that he/she gets each day, how often your child moves his/her body AND his/her attitudes about physical activity. Here are some tips for becoming an active/healthy family:
- Be active for at least 60 minutes every day.
- Eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables every day.
- Make active play fun for the entire family: Allow children to help choose and plan how the family will be physically active.
- Make moving a priority: Set aside time daily or throughout the week when the entire family can be physically active together.
- Get moving on a budget: Plan activities that require little or no equipment like walking, jumping rope, playing tag, or dancing.
- Be active inside and out: Spend time outdoors and be prepared for all weather conditions.
- Get active with other families. Meet up at playgrounds, the community pool, or a local trail.

Message from Mrs. Metcalf & Ms. Jalyn
This month, Nurse Kayla's focus is on physical activity. While it is definitely physically important for children to get out and enjoy some physical activity, it is also mentally important for them to do so as well! Regular exercise can help improve memory, thinking, mood, self-esteem, energy, and sleep. As we are about to have some big changes with the school year coming to a close, we are really going to be focusing on preparing the kids socially and emotionally for a nice break! In second step, we are going to be learning about problem solving, taking responsibility, and how to invite others to play fairly.
Hopefully we will have some nice weather this month so the kiddos can take advantage of all of these new skills when they are enjoying some physical activity outside! We hope you all have a nice Easter break!
