A Message from Principal Crane
I am still having a great time being at MHS! I love the students which is why I want to bring a safety concern that I need your help with. I want to make sure that everyone knows we now have four lunches that are 30-minutes each. This was done to ensure there was no overcrowding during the lunch periods. With a 30-minute lunch, students are able to be served in a timely manner. It is going well as we have several options of food for students to choose from; however, I have a high level of concern I want to share with you. I have seen an uptick in students leaving campus during lunch. I am concerned because the district has a closed-campus policy; however, several students are being checked out for this short amount of time which increases a safety issue for students trying to return on time. Students have been seen riding as a group which greatly concerns me. Parents, I need you to help us keep every student safe by making sure they stay on campus. Please, partner with us regarding the safety of your student. Should students need to leave for an appointment during their lunch, a doctor's note is required upon their return. Non-drivers will not be permitted to leave without a parent coming in to sign them out. Student drivers are required to have a MISD parking sticker. Student's leaving the campus without permission will have a disciplinary action.
Secondly, I am sure you are aware now that I have been enforcing the district policy of student dress code and wearing of ID. Again, it is about safety and accountability. The students are doing great and I appreciate the respectfulness that has been shown by our students.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid
The long awaited FAFSA opened on 12/30/2023. The state of Texas made completing and submitting the FAFSA a graduation requirement. Please keep this in mind as we move closer to graduation. If your FAFSA submission has not been reported to MISD by the day graduation tickets are distributed, you will not be able to receive your tickets. To submit your FAFSA, click here. If you would like to go ahead and take care of this graduation requirement but have not submitted your FAFSA or do not plan to submit the FAFSA, you may turn in the Financial Aid Application Opt-Out Form (Spanish version). The good news is that even if you submit the opt-out form, you are still able to fill out the FAFSA later!
