Thank you, Dr. Baldwin!
Recently, Dr. Etta Baldwin, PSRC’s Media supervisor was celebrated for her 40 years of service in PSRC.
She was surprised with a retirement luncheon on Wednesday, November 30, and was surrounded by friends and family members.
During her time in the district, she has served as a media coordinator at Union Elementary and as PSRC’s Media Supervisor.
Her retirement date is Jan. 1, 2023.
“It certainly has been a blessing over the years. It has been a wonderful career … and each one of you were a part of it,” Baldwin said.
After she retires, she plans to visit Germany. She also plans to spend time with her mother. Baldwin also will serve in her community and continue her work as an adjunct assistant professor at NC Central University following a short break.
We wish Dr. Etta well in her retirement and we thank her for all she has done to serve our students!

Counselors' Corner: Practice Self-Care This Holiday Season
Holidays are a time of joy and excitement.
However, holidays can also be overwhelming as individuals work to find the perfect gift and scramble to find time to get everything done.
It is important this holiday season to remember to practice self-care.
Incorporating self-care is an essential part of staying healthy mentally.
For more holiday health tips including tips to cope with stress, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website by clicking here to read “This Holiday Season is a Great Time to Focus on Health.”
It’s also important to teach self-care habits to our children.
Please click here to read about self-care for students. In addition, you can find resources about the importance of teaching your child empathy and the impact empathy can make in their lives, by clicking here.
Join the Robeson County Parental Advisory Committee!
The Robeson County Parental Advisory Committee will represent the Title I Parent, Guardian, Caregiver, and Caring Adult Community in Robeson County.
Robeson County P.A.C. members meet no more than six times each year to make decisions relative to family engagement in the Public Schools of Robeson County.
The P.A.C. will be responsible for reviewing and/or revising the Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Plan; making all parents aware of the efforts of this committee; soliciting input from all parents concerning these efforts; and attending meetings in support of Parent and Family Engagement.
The mission of the team is to create opportunities to build a capacity for family engagement by working collaboratively to identify and remove barriers, provide a space for Parents/Guardians to be co-creators in best practices when engaging families, and to develop a toolbox of resources and supports to help families build and sustain the curriculum of the home.
It is our goal that these efforts will strengthen the family-school partnership, and impact students' academic success.

Nurse's Corner: Encourage Healthy Habits
How do you know if your child is contagious?
Colds are a bit tricky because your child can pass it to others before symptoms appear, such as coughing, experiencing a runny nose, and sneezing.
The contagious period for a cold only lasts about three to four days into the illness.
Similarly, people infected with the flu are contagious from a day before they feel sick until their symptoms appear, such as high fever, sore throat, coughing, and body aches.
Most schools will send a child home if they think he or she shows symptoms of the following conditions:
· Fever
· Strep Throat
· Vomiting and/or diarrhea
· Skin and eye infections
· Parasitic infections such as lice of scabies
You can help your kids stay healthy by teaching them these rules:
· Don’t share food or drinks.
· Don’t share clothing.
· Throw away used tissues.
· Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
Vaccination Update
Students in 11th grade who will be promoted to 12th grade in the January (Spring) semester have 30 calendar days from the date they officially become 12th graders to get the second meningococcal vaccine.

The Health Department has openings every 15 minutes for vaccines. Also beginning January 3, the department will have workers rotating through lunch times to provide vaccines.
