Happy Summer Break!
With the summer break in full swing, I wanted to reach out with one last communication to highlight a couple of items.
#1 - The first day of school for our returning students is Thursday, August 22nd and it will be a full day of school.
#2 - Please consider participating in the 3rd annual Pride of the Wolf Pack Golf Outing. Details are below. The weather is guaranteed to be perfect! ;-)
#3 - Summer Reading - The theme this year is "Reach for the Stars". Details are in the links below.
#4 - Registration - If you still need to complete this process please do so ASAP. There were only 70 remaining at the start of this week. We're making progress!
#5 - Staff Updates... To begin our summer break, over the past two weeks, we have been actively hiring highly qualified staff to teach your children! We'll give you a full update on the all hiring and staff changes in July & August when the roster is set!
#6 - Homeroom Placement Notification - An email will be sent in mid-August notifying you and your child what homeroom they will be in for the upcoming school year.
And finally, I want to make sure you are all aware that we will have two new Associate Principals for next school year. We are excited to welcome Mr. Greg Keadle and Mr. Nick Filipowski.
Mr. Greg Keadle is a veteran math teacher and 8th-grade team leader here at Thomas and is excited to join the TMS administrative team! The entire community will benefit from Greg's leadership and passion for the TMS Community!
Mr. Nick Filipowski is also a veteran employee in District 25. Nick has been working at our district office in the role of Fine Arts, Physical Education, & Social-Emotional Learning Coordinator. He is bringing a wealth of leadership experience to this position and we're excited to welcome Nick the TMS administrative team.

Pride of the Wolf Pack Golf Outing
We are excited to announce that our 3rd annual Pride of the Wolf Pack Golf Outing is on Friday July 12th at Arlington Lakes Golf Club. It will be a 1:00 shotgun start. Last year, we had over 60 golfers and we hope to surpass that number this year! The cost of the outing is $100, and that gets you the round of golf with cart, lunch, dinner, and a 2 hour open bar at dinner. We also have a raffle and silent auction.
Over the past two years, we have used the proceeds from the outing in a number of ways, including:
Purchased banners that hang in our new gym to honor our Pride of the Wolf Pack members.
Purchased new uniforms for our girls and boys basketball teams.
We've paid for two of our track athletes to travel and stay downstate because they were unable to afford accommodations.
We have awarded two $500 scholarships to college bound high school seniors that graduated from Thomas.
We continue to explore new ways to impact the community and support the programs that Thomas has to offer our students.
Ways you can help!
* Get a twosome or foursome together to golf!
* Find a business to sponsor a hole
* Donate or find a good raffle or silent auction item
* Come to dinner that evening to bid on the fantastic items available.
Among the items we have for our raffle/silent auction so far are:
Hilton Head vacation home for a week
Keystone, CO vacation home for 5 days
Chicago Cubs tickets with field passes
Executive Box for 6 at Arlington Racecourse
Foursome at Hinsdale Golf Club
Behind the scenes with Waddle and Silvy at ESPN 1000 in Chicago

District 25 Middle Schools are thrilled to present students with Summer Reading 2019: Reach for the Stars. We've carefully selected titles to give students an opportunity to read about different perspectives and life experiences. Each of the characters has a story to tell and in doing so they show a tremendous amount of strength, passion, perseverance, and hope.
The expectation is that every TMS student READ AT LEAST ONE BOOK....our hope is that students READ SEVERAL.
