School Camp Postponement
On Thursday last week our senior teachers and leadership team visited Port Waikato as part of our usual pre camp checks. Sadly, Port Waikato township has suffered significant damage to land, homes, and important infrastructure in the recent cyclone and this summer's poor weather.
The site of the school camp itself has held up well and is in reasonably good condition, however the damage to the surrounding areas means that our camp program is significantly impacted. The potential for further issues up there over the next few weeks raises major concerns for us when considering sending our tamariki and keeping everyone safe. We don’t feel that we can provide the fantastic camp experience we had hoped to.
With this in mind, we have reluctantly decided to postpone our Senior School Camp at Port Waikato until the fourth week of Term 4 (Monday October 30th to Friday November 3rd 2023).
This has been a difficult decision to make. We are sure you will agree that the health and safety of our children, parent helpers and staff is of utmost importance, as is providing a fantastic camp experience.
More detailed information around planning for this change of date will be shared later in term 3.
If you have made payments for camp, these can be carried forward to the new date.

WATER FUN DAY THANK YOU
The Kahikatea (Junior) Team would like to sincerely thank all the helpers who came along to our 'Water Fun Day' today. We were once again overwhelmed by the amazing support that we have from our school community. We had a ratio of 1:2, which meant that our tamariki were safe and were able to enjoy their time in and out of the water. Thank you also for all the help packing up and getting our children ready to go back to school. We know many of you took time off work and juggled your own busy lives.
More photos can be found on our school facebook page.
A big Thank You to David Bullen from Unichem Morrinsville Pharmacy. Unichem Morrinsville have kindly donated some first aid supplies for our school.
These are much appreciated and will be used for our school camp and school trips.
- Starting this Friday 3rd March - Each Friday the Home and School Committee will be selling lemonade ice blocks for $1 each. Students who would like an ice block can give their money to their classroom teacher before school starts on Friday. They will be given their ice block at lunchtime.
