STAR Assessment Information
As mentioned earlier this year, the district has begun the implementation of the MTSS protocol (Multi-Tiered System of Support). A process through which we support students based on research-based assessments and practices, as well as individual student need. Along with this process, we are using the Star Assessment by Renaissance for Reading and Math. This assessment was taken in the fall by all students. The winter assessment window is January 10th-20th.
This second assessment will allow us to assess the health of our curriculum as well as help us to celebrate student growth and support students with specific skill interventions and enrichments. These assessments will be completed electronically in your child’s classroom and only take one class period to complete. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, or Mrs. Carter, if you have any questions. Thank you!
Gayman Science Fair
The Science Fair will be on Thursday, February 9th 5:30-7:00 PM. Projects must be dropped off on Wednesday, February 8th 4:00-5:00. The Science Fair is a great way for all Gayman students to come together and share our learning and love for science! For details, click here to view the informational packet.
Attention 6th Grade Parents: Middle School Orientation
February 28th at 7:00PM is the Tohickon 6th Grade Middle School Orientation (for parents).
2-Hour Delay Schedule for Snow
If there is inclement weather in our forecast, then there may be a 2-hour delay. Should that occur, please plan for the following schedule.
- Grades 1-6: 10:35AM - 3:15PM
- AM Kindergarten: 10:35AM - 12:20PM
- PM Kindergarten: 1:30PM-3:15PM
Label, Label, Label
As the weather begins to get colder and more of our students are wearing jackets and other outside winter gear, consider labeling your child's things with his/her last name. Our "Lost and Found" area next to the cafeteria is adding sweatshirts, jackets, and hats, every day.
If your child is missing any items, please feel free to ask your child's teacher to allow him/her for a quick visit to our "Lost and Found".
Foot Wear during PE and Recess
During physical activity, it is important that students wear proper footwear. Loose fitting shoes (i.e. crocs, moccasins, sandals, etc.) create safety challenges during recess and physical education class. For example, during kick ball at recess, crocs have flown off.
If your child has physical education class, or would like to play an active recess game, please ensure that they are wearing sneakers. Thank you!
