Principal Corner
This was Inclusion Week, and it brought to the forefront why OHS is such a special place. It was so exciting to see our OHS Rise students, together with LINKS, plan a whole week around the idea that everyone is safe and accepted here at OHS.
As a reminder, no school next week. Tech Center students are still required to attend the Tech Center, and buses will be running from OHS on their normal schedule to the Tech Center. The Tech Center will be closed on February 16 and 19 (the Friday we return and the following Monday).
Have a great week and we'll see everyone when we return!

Early College
Attention 10th Graders:
If you are interested in attending the Early College your junior/senior year and completing a 5th year to earn your High School Diploma AND an Associate's Degree, be sure to swing by the Counseling Office and pick up a green Application Folder if you haven't already! In the folder, you'll find the documents you'll need to complete before Friday, February 23rd. On this date, Early College applicants will spend the morning at the Tech Center turning in their applications and learning more about the program.
Upon completion of their Associate of Arts Degree, Early College students can immediately pursue entry-level jobs that require education beyond high school, and this is great for students seeking a cost-free college education who aren't necessarily seeking a Bachelor's Degree. A few other things to consider:
- For students who hope to transfer to a 4-year program, please keep in mind that not all LMC courses are guaranteed to transfer. Check out the Michigan Transfer Agreement resource to browse Michigan Universities and what credits they accept.
- Keep in mind the potential college major you'll want to pursue beyond Early College and whether the courses taken through LMC align with your future program requirements and goals.
- Students interested in college athletics will want to keep in mind that their "true" freshman year will be spent with us finishing their final Early College year and will not participate in their sport until they've completed their high school diploma/early college degree.
- A note about scholarships: most students begin applying for scholarships their senior year but our Early College students won't pursue scholarships until their 13th year and will be applying with the class below them.
