Please join us for "Coffee with the Principal" on 1/27 at 9:00am at UCEN. Coffee with the Principal is an informal chat with Principal, Dr. Fine and AOC staff. This month's chat will focus on mental health and wellness at AOC. Mr. Jason Wilhelm and staff will discuss our RULER program and other ways that we support the mental health of students.

Students are invited to attend a meeting with DFY in SCV. They will learn about the dangers and implications of substance abuse, stay informed and educated on current mental health and teen topics. Snacks will be provided.

COC is holding a special event on Saturday, January 28th from 9 am - 1 pm to help students explore career education programs and employment opportunities.

Fifty juniors and seniors will be selected from the statewide applicants to participate in

this conference. The conference will be held both virtually and in person from March 30

to April 2, 2023. The three virtual conference days are on March 30 and 31 and April 2,

while the one in-person conference day will be Saturday, April 1 in Sacramento. The

APYLP will pay all expenses for the participants, including any travel, lodging, and

meals, through sponsorships from private corporations, higher education institutions,

professional organizations, and other individuals.

The organization is especially interested in reaching students who have leadership

potential but have difficulty developing or realizing that potential due to language,

economic, cultural, or other barriers. Applications must be submitted or postmarked no

later than January 31, 2023.

The APYLP is celebrating its thirty-third anniversary in 2023, for

ROOTS is seeking new members!! It is not too late to join the ROOTS parent organization!

The Academy of the Canyons is a unique and wonderful school with a strong sense of community. Roots nurtures many traditions at AOC—past events have included field trips; a PSAT breakfast; refreshments for other school functions; homemade food for teacher appreciation week. Roots is committed to supporting students, teachers and staff whenever the need may arise.
We can only grow a strong Roots organization to support our school community through the generous donations of funds, time and talent from our AOC families. The amount of donations we receive will determine how much we are able to do. Please consider supporting Roots financially. If we all donate a little, that money adds up and goes a long way. Every penny that is donated stays at AOC to provide support for our AOC community.
We would love for you to be involved in the Roots organization! Please watch your emails from AOC for information on our upcoming meetings and events. Everyone is welcome! Due to the current COVID-19 situation, there will be changes this year—we will still be here to help teachers, staff and students as much as we are able to.

Located on the campus of College of the Canyons, AOC is proud to be the middle college high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District serving students 9th-12th grades in the Santa Clarita Valley. Students have the opportunity to earn between 24 and 44 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas. Upon graduation, the majority of Academy students pursue their post high school education by continuing at COC and completing their college transfer requirements in only one year after high school. Other AOC students go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level. While attending AOC as a high school student, community college tuition is waived for established California residents.
