Pennsbury's Hunger Heroes
Staff members and students enrolled in Pennsbury's M.O.S.T. program took the time this week to support ShopRite of Yardley's annual "Help Bag Hunger" event. The group proudly represented the district alongside other volunteers from the community to help stamp out hunger in our area. "Help Bag Hunger" raises funds to help those facing food insecurity.
Special thanks to Mrs. Hidalgo (Penn Valley,) Mrs. Salvucci (Manor,) Mrs. Hultquist (Edgwood,) Mr. Becker (Oxford Valley,) Mr. Rehb (Quarry Hill,) Mrs. Steffy (Central Office), and Mr. Longo (Central Office) for their help!
Be Our Guest!
Friday, September 22, was Be Our Guest Night at Falcon Field. Prior to the PHS Varsity Football game against Central Bucks West, 7th & 8th-grade students from Charles Boehm, Pennwood, and William Penn Middle Schools performed with the Pennsbury High School Marching Band and then joined them in the stands for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, some of the District's youngest cheerleaders got to experience what it is like to be a varsity cheerleader! What a great night seeing PHS students mentor younger Falcons!
Bon Appétit!
Pennsbury High School students enrolled in Madame Carroll’s French 4 Honors class took a trip to the French bakery Mamie Colette in Newtown this week. They enjoyed authentic pastries, and learned how to make croissants. The entire trip was conducted solely in French! Bon travail (great job!)
Making New Friends
Kindergarten students at Quarry Hill Elementary School met their 4th-grade buddies for the first time this week. Pennsbury has a tradition of partnering younger students with older students at the elementary school level to foster friendship, kindness, and teamwork. The students worked on Venn Diagram posters to get to know each other better.
Hoop Castle Challenge at Walt Disney
At Walt Disney Elementary School, Mr. Kennedy's physical education class worked on team-building exercises this week. Students worked together to build hula hoop castles and collaborated to make their way through the castles. Team work makes the dream work!
Penn Valley Shadows
Ms. Gatt's 5th-graders at Penn Valley Elementary School took advantage of the sun when it made an appearance this week to study their shadows. They utilized their shadows to learn about the position of the Earth and Sun in our solar system.
Testing Newton's First Law of Motion
Newton's First Law of Motion was an area of focus in science this week for 8th-graders at William Penn Middle School. Check out the video below to see if the students were successful in testing the law that states an object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
Learning Math through Song
Students in Mrs. Falcone's 7th-grade math class at Pennwood Middle School reinforce integer operations with a parody of Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Sing along!
"Same sign add and keep,
Different signs subtract.
Use the sign of the bigger number,
Then you'll be exact!"
It's All in the Details
Students enrolled in Art 1 with Mr. Mays at Pennsbury High School display impressive attention to detail as they draw while observing photos. Art 1 is an introductory first-year art elective course for students interested in continuing in a planned, sequential art program. In this foundation course, students learn the proper techniques for various materials, which will prepare them for higher-level art courses. Art criticism, art history, and aesthetics are incorporated into art production assignments.
