Character Trait of the Month
Our Character Strong trait for September is RESPONSIBILITY. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, October 2nd. It's a staff professional development day followed by our first night of fall conferences from 4:30-8:30. Families can also check out our Book Fair! If you haven't signed-up for conferences yet, here's how to:
- Go to www.Myconferencetime.com/Hoover
- Click on the name of your student's teacher (if you need multiple conferences, click on the link 'Register for Multiple Time Slots')
- Select the desired date/time for your conference by clicking ‘Sign Up’
- If you choose a virtual conference, you will receive an email with a link to join that virtual conference.
- Use the drop down to choose either YES (for in person) or NO (for virtual)
- Click ‘Sign Up’
- After you schedule a conference on-line, the date and time are reserved for you. If you entered your email address correctly, you will receive an email reminder a few days prior to your conference.
Character Strong monthly traits magnets will be going home with students each month. Every student will receive one, so we hope that you will help them find a special place at home to place them, so they are visible for students to review! For this month, students will receive magnets for RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY.
Please continue to share with others about our open positions. No previous experience is necessary to become a SpEd paraeducator. We have an amazing team who will support and train you. We would love for you or someone you know to join our Hoover team!
Best,
Mrs. Strusz

Get To Know Our Hoover Staff
"It takes a village to raise a child."
Thank you for being a part of ours, as we hope that you know, we are a part of yours. Our dedicated Hoover staff show up every day, rain or shine, to ensure that every student who walks into Hoover feels welcomed, loved, and supported. And that every day is new, no matter how the previous day went.
This AMAZING Hoover community not only gives their all to our students but also gives their all to their own families. We hope you take some time to look through these slides to get to know who we are and what our interests and passions are. These interests and passions are often why we choose to have a career in education.
PTO Fundraiser - Last Day is Monday, Oct. 2nd!
Seesaw Family/Teacher Communication
Anoka Hennepin School District encourages family/teacher communication through the use of the Seesaw platform. Many families signed up at Open House this year. During fall conferences, our teachers will help families who have not signed up and set this up on their phone/tech devices yet. Please make sure to do this!
Every Meal Program Available
Every Meal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to fight child hunger through community and school partnerships. Every Meal supports families with programming over the weekends, extended school breaks, and summer. This program is entirely voluntary and families can choose to sign up or stop receiving meals at any time of the year. More info can be found at https://www.everymeal.org/.
Every Meal brochures were sent home with students in early September, and distribution of the meals started the third week of September. Meals will be placed in backpacks for students/families who signed up, every week on the last school day of the week. If you would like to sign up your student for this program, please reach out to Brianna Havelka, school social worker, at Brianna.Havelka@ahschools.us.
Young Scientist Roundtable
Anoka Hennepin School District will be hosting Young Scientist Roundtable events this year! We hope this provides more access for our Hoover students who are interested in attending.
Families can register their student(s) at https://bit.ly/3tadTTG.
Fall Book Fair - Online Purchasing is Available Now!
We will be having a book fair during fall conferences. The online book fair is now open. Books that are purchased online will be shipped to Hoover 7-10 days after the in-person fair is over. Families also have the option to purchase books off a teacher created wishlist online or to buy gift cards. Any books purchased help us be able to buy new books for the library.
Reach out to Ms. Walker, Media Specialist, with any questions at Kristin.Walker@ahschools.us.
Message from the Nurse's Office
Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.
The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.
Wondering if your child is well enough to come to school? Click here for more information.
If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.
