Reminders
If you have questions about activities and events that are taking place in school or specifically in your child's classroom, please reach out to our staff. We are here to help. All school-related questions should be addressed to the pertinent homeroom teacher first, and then followed up with a phone call or email to the main office, if necessary. School information is shared in this weekly newsletter. If you know of someone who is NOT receiving this newsletter, please ask them to notify the main office so we can rectify that.
Report Cards are now available!
Then use the GRADING tab to navigate to AVAILABLE REPORT CARDS.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for March 12th - March 15th. These days will be single-session days with a 1:35 dismissal time for students. Lunch will be served.
For your convenience, evening conferences will be available on Tuesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 14. Afternoon sessions will be available on Wednesday, March 13 and Friday, March 15.
You can register for conferences via the Parent Portal beginning on March 1st at 3pm. Conference registration closes on March 5th.
Special education teachers will meet together with regular education homeroom teachers. In addition, you can select a conference time to meet with your child's BSI teacher(s), speech therapist, and case manager. Scheduling a 10 minute conference time with our special area teachers (art, music, media, PE) is optional. If booking multiple conferences, remember to leave enough travel time between meeting sessions.
Our goal is to reach 100% participation! We look forward to meeting with you! If you need help scheduling your conferences, please contact the main office at 732-613-6810.
School Arrival
The school day begins at 9:00. We appreciate you making every effort to be on time for school each day. Remember that after you drop your child off, they still need to travel to their classroom, which takes additional time. Important learning starts right away in our classrooms. Ideally, all students should be in class by 9:05.
Students arriving after 9:05 are marked TARDY. They will need to enter the building by security and will need to be signed in by a parent. In the event of extensive traffic or congestion issues, the car loop will remain open. For those using the car loop in the morning, it is imperative that we keep safety and efficiency in mind. Students should be ready to independently exit the car on the passenger side. It is appreciated that all drivers keep the car loop moving. Please avoid taking this time to communicate with our staff on duty. Call the main office for questions about your child's day. Parents MUST NOT pull out of the car loop line. If you are in a rush, park in the main lot and walk your child to the front of the building. Safety remains our top priority when assisting students in our car loop.
Students should never be left unattended before school begins. There is no supervision for students prior to 8:55. Parents are responsible for staying with their children if they arrive at school before the bell rings. For the safety of all, students should not be playing on school playground equipment before school begins.
Royalty for a Day Winners
Congratulations to Mrs. Grant's Class on winning our Royalty For a Day contest! We appreciate everyone's participation! The money we raised will go directly towards funding our school End of Year Celebration event!

NJSLA Testing for Grades 3 & 4
The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) will be administered this spring. Students in grades 3-4 will participate in the English Language Arts grade-level assessment and the Mathematics grade-level assessment.
The testing schedule is on the second page of this letter which was emailed to you from the Assistant Superintendent of Academics, Dr. Boley. Please review the testing dates and unit times for your child’s grade level. The testing schedule is also posted on our assessment website at www.ebnet.org/assessment.
The NJSLA Assessments are aligned with the curriculum that your child has participated in all year, so no special preparation for testing is necessary. During the assessment period, we recommend that you encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal or school counselor. Please also visit our website at www.ebnet.org/assessment for more information.
Fourth Grade Parents:
All scheduling selections for upcoming 5th grade HUES students should now be entered via Parent Access. You can still access Parent Access to make your selections with your child. If you haven't done so, counselors from HUES will be available at Bowne-Munro to help your child make their selections next week.
You are welcome to visit the HUES Scheduling page to familiarize yourself with the Online Course Guide which contains all course options with descriptions at Hammarskjold. More information from the school counselors can be found HERE.
Solar Eclipse: April 8th
There will be a solar eclipse viewable in our area on April 8th. The eclipse will start at approximately 2:10, reach maximum coverage around 3:24 and end at 4:35.
The EBEF generously supplied solar glasses for all students, so they will be able to safely view the eclipse. Please see the link below from the National Science Teaching Association for more information on the eclipse.
