Mustang News - March 3rd, 2023
From The Principal...
This week included both immense sadness and alternatively many moments of joy. You’ve likely already received our communication: We are sending the Everly family our heartfelt support during this difficult time. Our SSN team, Student Council and administration are working together to honor Tarran’s legacy. We also hosted our upcoming 9th Grade Mustangs from MSMS today and shared celebrations of MSHS connections; course offerings and timelines for enrollment; and opportunities to get involved in clubs, activities, and/or athletics. Additionally, we hosted our Curriculum Fair for current 9th-11th graders to better understand our diverse course offerings for next school year to encourage students’ exciting postsecondary passions. Furthermore, we have students currently attending the Honor Choir at Western State as well as students starting their World Language and Culture Night projects. We’ve also recently posted our Assistant Principal position, which will close March 17th. I hope you enjoy your weekend. Anna Conrad Manitou Springs High School Interim Principal

Here is the first step for you to take.
Please help us with this process by completing the 2023-2024 Intent to Return Survey using the link below. We ask that all parents and guardians complete this survey regardless of whether they will be attending MSSD14 in the fall for the 2023-2024 school year.

From The Counseling Department...
MSHS launched our first ever Curriculum Fair! This event was for current MSHS Student only.
All rising 10th/11th/12th graders (current 9th,10th,11th) attended this event in the Old Gym at MSHS to be able to talk to department leaders and teachers of all subjects.
This was provided to all students so that when the course request portal opens (via PowerSchool), current MSHS students are able to make informed decisions regarding their course selection requests for the 2023-24 school year! Stay tuned for more information about this next week including timeline :)
We hope your student used this time to ask questions and learn about all the wonderful opportunities that await you as a rising 10th, 11th or 12th grade student.
Current 9th grade (Class of 2026) attended Thursday 3/2/2023
Current 10th/11th grade (Class of 2025 and 2024) attended Friday 3/3/2023

From The Athletic Trainer...
Do you remember the hero coming to your rescue when you seriously injured yourself out on the soccer field? Or how about the person who had the initial contact with your favorite professional athlete while they were sitting on the sidelines writhing in pain? Those people just so happen to be athletic trainers.
Although this may be the setting we’re most used to seeing them, athletic trainers don’t ONLY work with athletes participating in sports. In fact, they play a crucial part in our healthcare system as they’re highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals. Athletic trainers “are health care”, “are military health care”, “are performance health care”, “are sports health care”, and are “work health care.”
It’s time we give our athletic trainers the love and appreciation they deserve. With March being National Athletic Training Month, here’s our opportunity! (Of course, we can continue to give support all year round).
All month long we will dive a little deeper into the athletic trainers’ professional organization and give you some details on the profession and the job outlook. This year's slogan is "THERE'S AN AT FOR THAT".
