Rāmere Friday 16th Paenga-whāwhā April (T1: Wk11 of 11)
Our Tumuaki Principal
Kia ora koutou.
We have come to the end of Term One for 2021. It has been a great term and such a contrast to the challenges we faced this time last year.
I hope you enjoy your holidays and we look forward to seeing all the children back on Monday 3rd May.
Here are some further snippets from me...
- ANZAC Day: The ANZAC Service for Edendale starts at 9.00am. The Student Council will lay a wreath on behalf of the school. All students who wish to march in the parade need to be in full, clean and correct uniform and assemble at the Rugby Clubrooms area by 8.40am. We encourage the children to wear a poppy.
- School Punctuality: It is wonderful to see so many of our families establishing the internal home routines to get children to school before school starts at 8.50am. I know that it is a busy time managing, often multiple children, and potentially your own work, to have everyone out the door at the right time. Having positive wake times, shower, dress and bag ready routines, in the morning, is a beneficial habit that supports children throughout their life. Thanks for supporting and training your children in the great work ethic of punctuality.
- Lego Masters: I had just under 40 creative entries in this year's Lego Masters competition. They came from across the school, from New Entrants to Year Six. Judging was difficult, as models were so varied in their style, construction and purpose. A real demonstration of how creative our children are! Well done. Keep an eye out for Term Two's Principal's Creativity Challenge in the first newsletter for next term.
Thank Yous - Team Edendale
- Mrs Amy Smith: Amy is our After School Care Co-ordinator who started at the beginning of this term. This coincided with an external review. There was a lot to learn and get on top of very quickly. Amy has persisted with this and done a fine job getting herself up to speed.
- Whanau Kikorangi: Kikorangi was our winning whanau for Term One for showing our values in the playground. Every time our values are demonstrated, in the micro-interactions between students, it makes our school a great place to be. Thanks, Kikorangi.
- Parents: Thanks for all your support this term with helping with athletics, at the senior camp, the Car Boot Sale, attending our goal setting interviews, helping out with swimming, being part of our Whanau Day and supervising all the learning partnership work. We could not do it without you!
