Greetings,
In the past week, I have witnessed remarkable acts of care and kindness from so many of you! The Highcroft and Parkway community continues to come together in challenging times and make magical things happen! I truly appreciate your patience with the fast-paced changes that continue to take place. As Dr. Marty shared, "During this emergency closure, it is not possible to fully replicate an at-school experience within an online learning environment. Parkway will not expect students to follow their normal schedule or be online for a full day of learning. Instead, the vast majority of the work will involve students learning at their own pace and the flexibility to complete assignments at a time that works best for them and their families. Click here to learn more about eLearning days during this emergency closure."
As we engage in virtual learning, please take a moment each day to remind your student about the importance of digital citizenship and his or her virtual social responsibilities. This 40-second video is a useful tool which shares some quick tips. Please remind them that their digital communication should always reflect our ROSE values, whether posting for eLearning or personal use. Also, remind them that once something is shared online, the content may remain on the internet even if they delete it.
To stay connected as a school community during our eLearning experience, we encourage everyone to participate in our virtual school Spirit Days. Each day, from March 25th through April 3rd, we will have a themed Spirit Day. You and your child can participate by posting pictures of students engaged in the spirit activity on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram tagging Highcroft or using the hashtag #Highcroftbettertogether! See the calendar above or the graphic below for details on each Spirit Day.
Be on the lookout for our morning announcements each weekday by 9:05 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram beginning March 25th. We also invite you to recognize your child when they display our ROSE values by submitting a Virtual Gotcha. Click here to complete the Virtual Gotcha form.
I would like to end with a huge shout out to the Highcroft teachers and staff! This group of educators is fantastic! The love and attention they have put in over the past week to prepare for Wednesday are immeasurable. With very little notice, how they "do business" was redesigned, and they have embraced the challenge. They make me #Highcroftproud!
In partnership,
Cartelia Lucas

A Virtual Gotcha is used to recognize students when they display our ROSE Values. Please consider submitting a Virtual Gotcha for your child to be recognized.
Many Thanks
Thank you to the beautification team members who came and spruced up our grounds over Spring Break! You all keep Highcroft looking fabulous!

Library News
Mrs. Stilts, Librarian
While there are many uncertainties right now, we do know that Highcroft is one incredible community. We will get through these historic times together, even if “together” at this time comes in the form of eLearning. I am here to help support students, parents, and teachers in any way I can. One way I plan to help all classrooms is by getting students access to their virtual St. Louis County Library card. All Parkway students have a virtual card. The virtual card works much in the same way your library card does, giving students access to databases, eBooks, and more. If you aren’t sure of your student number, it can be accessed by Infinite Campus, or let me know and I will help you.
1. Go to https://www.slcl.org/
2. Click the "My Account" button found in the upper right-hand corner.
3. Log in using the following information.
Last Name = Last Name
Library Card Number = 095(your student number)
PIN Number = 1234 (this can be changed after login)
Your child’s teacher will have amazing resources for students starting this week. In the meantime, Scholastic is offering interactive activities for students, organized by grade level. Students engage in a digital presentation of a book and complete correlating activities. https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome.html
As always, please feel free to reach out by email if there is anything I can do to help.
Happy reading,
Danielle Stilts
