Message from Dr. Rivera

Welcome back! I hope you had a nice break with your family. We are reenergized and excited about getting our kids prepared for the next grade. We are checking in on goals and doing whatever we can to meet them.

Speaking of goals, our attendance goal for this year is 95.5%. Pre-Covid, we always had close to 98% attendance, and we have not recovered for some reason. The SES Absence Tank in the picture shows how many absences we have left in order to reach our 95.5% goal, and it is updated monthly. As you can see, we are already over budget. We need your help in getting our kids to school and setting them up for success. Good attendance and work habits start now!

PTO News

International Night is just around the corner. This is a time where we celebrate the diverse cultures from around the world. Visitors are encouraged to dress up in a cultural outfit as we take a trip around the globe. Raising Readers will also be happening in the library, and we will be serving tostadas for dinner. We are in need of the following:

Performances from different cultures - dances, singing, etc.
Food/snacks from different countries
Volunteers to run stations with crafts and activities and to pass out food

Raising Canes Spirit Night

Head to Raising Canes on January 17th from 4 to 10pm, mention Smith, and 15% of your ticket will be donated to our PTO.

Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to third grade math teacher, Anna Schad! Mrs. Schad is dedicated to growing each student, and she has led her team to be one of the top performers in the district.

Tamera Brockett is our paraprofessional of the month. She is in charge of all attendance accountability and registration on our campus. She works hard and has a great attitude!
