THE EVERGREEN EXPRESS
EVERGREEN ELEMENTARY-FAMILY CONNECTION
November 5, 2023
Greetings Evergreen Families,
Welcome November and the brisk cool weather. We have a four day school week. Schools will be closed on Nov. 10th in honor of Veterans Day.
Friendly reminder about the carpool line. Parents/Guardians, please remember not to pull out until the staff member on the corner waves for you to go. Additionally, we appreciate it if you could remain in your car when dropping off in the morning. We understand parents of Kindergarten students may need to quickly get out to assist with the car seat. Again, we value your support in following the daily carpool procedures to ensure the safety of all. Additionally, we want to keep a smooth transition going between cars and buses.
If you have not completed either the On-Line FEDERAL IMPACT AID, EMERGENCY INFORMATION UPDATE or ACCEPTABLE USE FORMS, we really appreciate your time in doing so.
There will be NO Nov. 12th issue of The Evergreen Express.
With Gratitude,
Principal Fowler

What is standards based grading?
Standards based grading communicates how students perform on a set of clearly defined learning targets called standards. The purpose of standards based grading is to identify what a student knows, or is able to do, in relation to those learning targets as opposed to simply averaging grades/scores over the course of the grading period, which can mask what a student has learned or not learned. A standards based grading system also provides students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate learning.
Benchmark Advance is utilized as the county reading program and Bridges as the math program to instruct students on grade-level standards.
DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a tool used by teachers to determine how students are performing on important reading skills for their grade level.
