Greetings Students and Families
I hope the week of Spring Break offered you all time to re-connect with those you love and time to enjoy the beautiful Oregon spring weather. As we head in to this final stretch of the year, take time to reflect on all the great things that you have accomplished over the course of the last seven months of our school year. I am so proud of all Lenox students, staff, and families. We are in the home stretch of the year - let's finish strong!

And, as a reminder, if you ever have questions, suggestions, or wonderings, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher, the office or me. News & Notes You Need to Know
State Testing Opt - Out Process
The state testing window is officially open for 3rd-6th grade students as well as our English Language Learners who take ELPA. At Lenox, we will start testing in mid-April. If you would like to opt your child out of state testing, please see the following link for more information OPT-OUT State Testing.
To get an idea of the testing format, technology skills the students will encounter, and the sample test items, we encourage parents and students to explore the sample tests. Please click the link to access the sample tests.
Immunization & Exemption Rates Report
You can view HSD immunization and exemption rates by school HERE. To access an interactive map of immunization rates in K-12 schools as well as preschools and child care centers across Oregon, please visit the Oregon Health Authority's website and click on the appropriate Data Map. Currently, district-wide rates are not calculated. Also see county rates.
March 1, 2023: Kindergarten Registration Opens for 2023-24 School Year
Children must be five years old by September 1, 2023, to enroll for the 2023-24 school year. Register at your "home" school using the Enrollment Process as soon as possible. Doing so helps schools ensure they have the staff in place to welcome and support your child through a positive and rewarding experience. To confirm your assigned home school of attendance, please call Transportation at 503.844.1123.
NOTE: Requests for kindergarten transfers (to attend a school other than your home school) may be held until August, subject to space availability. Your student must be registered at their home school before submitting a transfer application.

Too Sick for School Guidance
In the school environment, many communicable diseases are easily transmitted from one student to another. A healthy environment involves prevention, early recognition of illness, symptoms, prompt diagnosis and treatment. Children who are not feeling well have a difficult time concentrating and therefore do not benefit from the instruction they receive during that time. Please do not send an ill child to school. Scholastic has a new, cashless way for students to make purchases - introducing e-wallet! For families who may have worries about their children losing their book fair funds, don't usually carry cash, etc., Scholastic has a new and helpful way for parents (as well as Grandparents, Aunts, friends, etc.) to pre-load funds electronically for their child, through their new e-wallet payment system! Leftover funds can also be rolled over to another book fair! Click here for more info.

SERVICES OFFERED FOR TALENTED AND GIFTED (TAG) STUDENTS
Parents are welcome to refer their child for services designed for students identified as talented and gifted. Students who score at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally standardized, norm-referenced test of overall reading or math or on a mental abilities test, and have other confirming evidence that they learn at a rapid rate and advanced level, are identified as TAG students. With parent input, individual plans are made to adjust the rate and level of the student’s instruction to meet his or her specific needs. If you think your child may qualify for TAG services, and want information about the referral and identification process, please contact our school’s TAG Coordinator.
