October 12th, 2023
Fall has arrived and with it comes many fun and exciting festivities. Firstly, I would like to recognize our students and staff at all three buildings for their participation in spirit week! The fun continues tonight with our annual Powderpuff Football Game, which will begin at 7pm at Wildcat Stadium! Plan to join us at our homecoming football game tomorrow night to show your support of our Wildcat band members, KHS cheerleaders, and our football players!

Bring on the Crunch!
Throughout October, we will be celebrating National Farm to School Month, enjoying healthy and locally sourced food! On Tuesday, our students participated by crunching into different types of apples from local farms.
Our kindergarten students added to this celebration by making applesauce, and our third graders enjoyed a field trip to learn about locally sourced food. The “Food for America” trip was at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. It was presented by Lorain County JVS Agriculture students and FFA students from neighboring high schools. KES teacher Mrs. Hetsler states, "Our third graders rotate through 30 different stations presented by the high school students to learn where our food comes from. The high schoolers really take it seriously and do a great job teaching the kids!"
National Farm to School Month is in its tenth year and is celebrated in all 50 states not only in school districts but also in early childcare centers, colleges, hospitals, and more. At its core, National Farm to School Month "is built for and by communities, with all of us working together to cultivate a better future for us all. Farm to school brings together a community of individuals across sectors, generations, and interests—farmers, parents, students, advocates, teachers, food service workers, and lawmakers—who all share a common vision of an abundant, nourishing, and equitable food system."

Addressing Bullying and Harassment
Keystone will be hosting a parent information session on Wednesday, October 18 to discuss bullying amongst today’s youth. It will begin at 7pm in the KMS Cafeteria.
The information session, titled "Bullying: What it Is, What it Isn’t, and What to Do About It," will include discussions on the differences between physical bullying, verbal bullying, the effects of social media on today’s youth, and more.
Class and Poise
Officiating Crew Chief John Tulk stated, "Speaking for my crew, I just want to say it was a pleasure to officiate your game this evening against Black River. Your players exhibited good sportsmanship throughout the game, which is a direct reflection on you and your coaching staff."
Financial Aid Night!
On Thursday, October 19 at 6pm, we will hold Financial Aid Night at KHS. The financial aspect of a post-secondary education is challenging to navigate, so if your child is considering attending a college or university, we strongly encourage you to come.
We will be discussing the new application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), student loans, and more. With questions concerning this informational session, please contact KHS Guidance Counselors Suzanne Atkinson @ suzanne.atkinson@keystoneschools.org or Patrick Gallion @ patrick.gallion@keystoneschools.org. Both can also be reached at 440.355.2400.
