“God never tires of forgiving us; we are the ones who tire of seeking his mercy.” Pope Francis
Dear HFRCS Families,
We have quite a busy schedule these past few weeks and it will continue to be busy as we begin Lent on Wednesday. We had a great Catholic Schools Week, our St. Joseph’s 7th graders received Confirmation, we had our 7th Annual Winter Ball this past Friday, 2/9/24.
Tomorrow, 2/13/24, is Donut Day as well as our St. Valentine’s Day Dress Down for all students. Wednesday, which is St. Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday, we have our monthly mass, but it will be at 8:30am. Families are always welcome to celebrate our faith together as a school community. The students will also have their St. Valentine’s Day parties Wednesday afternoon.
There is no school this Friday, 2/16/24, or next Monday, 2/19/24, due to President’s Day.
Just a reminder that students can work on their i-Ready My Paths at home. This is a great opportunity for them to receive some extra instruction that is catered to their “glows” & “grows.”
As always, thank you for your support and dedication to Holy Family and catholic education. Our school would not be what it is without you, our amazing families.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mr. Elia
Catholic Schools Week
Our teachers and student council worked so hard to ensure we had the best Catholic Schools Week. It started with our annual Open House where we display all of the wonderful things our students are working on as well as help introduce our amazing school to new families and students.
Then, throughout the rest of the week, we had students versus the teachers in Family Feud, Teacher Appreciation Day, Student Appreciation Day with Prayer Partner Bingo, HSA treating our teachers and students to fantastic lunches, our Religion Bee, and of course our 8th grade versus the students and their families in Volleyball Game.
We had our annual Religion Bee as well and Ian Calise has made it 2 years in a row accomplishing this difficult feat! Now he moves on to the regional Religion Bee at Cardinal O’Hara where he will compete against the winners from the other DELCO catholic schools.
And we would like to thank HSA & you, our families, for the special lunches for the teachers and students that week as well!
Winter Ball
Our 7th Annual Winter Ball was a great success and we have several people to thank for it. Kim Lake, Kristy Cobb, HSA, Maureen McKenna, and all our families. We had such amazing baskets that our families donated to help raise additional funds for our school. In addition to being a fundraiser, it was an opportunity for the entire school community to come together and have some fun.
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Tax Program
We were so lucky to have Kevin Kelly from the Foundation for Catholic Education present at our Back to School night about the EITC Program. This is an opportunity for individuals like you to send PA State Income Tax money directly to our school instead of Harrisburg. If you have the completed commitment form, please send it directly to Kevin Kelly (kkelly@foundationfce.org). The link for the form is below and a copy of the form is also attached to the dojo post.
COVID Policy Reminder
At Holy Family, our number one priority will always be the safety of our students, staff, and families. We have seen an increase number of positive cases among students the last three days. Nothing to panic about, but we must make sure we are following proper protocols and taking necessary precautions. If we do not work together, we may be facing a mask mandate and/or possible virtual days if the numbers continue to rise.
As a reminder, our COVID Policy is below. So, please make sure you monitor for symptoms.
Everyone will follow the same procedures regardless of their vaccination status.
If you are exposed to someone who is positive with COVID-19
- There is no quarantine period, but masks will be strongly recommended.
If you live with a person(s) who has tested positive for COVID-19
- There is no quarantine period, but masks will be required. The length of time will be confirmed by Nurse Victoria.
If you test positive for COVID-19
- You must contact Nurse Victoria immediately. You will isolate for at least 5 days and be able to return after that time period if you are free of fever and your overall symptoms have improved. Nurse Victoria will confirm your return date and when you will be able to return to being mask optional.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Nurse Victoria if you have any questions or concerns.
