⭐ Rising Stars Award Ceremony ⭐
This year in collaboration with the Parent Association we started a new tradition here at Service & Learning. Our Risings Stars award ceremony is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of the underclassmen (9, 10 & 11th graders). After weeks of planning the ceremony came to life! Though this year we started small, selecting the top 3 students in each subject area. Next year we hope to open it up to be able to celebrate more student excellence.

🎉Congrats to Nurin Haque!🎉
This school year, HSSL joined the DOE's inaugural Career Readiness Modern Youth Apprenticeship program wherein sophomores enrolled in a Career Pathways Matching course would have the opportunity to apply for highly competitive, two to three year, paid apprenticeships with business, finance, and technology companies in NYC. We are proud to announce that Nurin Haque was offered and has accepted an IT apprenticeship with Metro Plus, combining her interests in healthcare and technology! Nurin will attend training over the summer and begin her apprenticeship in the fall. Huge thanks to Mr. Terrell for teaching and leading our sophomores in our first ever Career Pathways Matching course and to Ms. Hamilton and Ms. Anuku for laying the foundation in Career Explorations (previously known as Seminar). We look forward to building on these successes and expanding career-readiness opportunities for students in the coming years!
