We are so happy to have all of our wonderful students and families back for the new school year. Welcome to all the students and families that are new to Hancock!! We love having you all here!! Please read through this whole newsletter as we have a lot of important information that will need some attention, including the following:

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURES

FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH FOR 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR

Children need healthy and nutritious meals to learn and grow. CUSD Nutrition offers healthy meals every school day. The Free and Reduced Lunch Program provides students from eligible families with free or reduced meals at school.
Benefits:
- School Meals - Free or Reduced prices on delicious and nutritious meals
- P-EBT – Eligibility to receive Pandemic EBT
- Academic Tests – Reduced registration Fees for AP, SAT, and/or ACT tests
- Internet Access – Eligible for discounted rates on internet services
- Athletics – Free or discounted fees to participate in most sports
Your child/children may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals if:
- All children in households receiving benefits from SNAP/TANF, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or FDPIR, are eligible for free meals.
- Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
- Children participating in their school's Head Start program are eligible for free meals.
- Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free meals.
- Children may receive free or reduced price meals if your household's income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals if your household income falls at or below the limits.
- Children in households participating in WIC may be eligible for free or reduced price meals. Please send in an application.
- If your child doesn’t qualify at this time, you may still apply later on if your situation changes later in the school year. For example, children with a parent or guardian who becomes unemployed may become eligible for free and reduced price meals if the household income drops below the income limit.
- If you are unsure if your child qualifies, fill out the application anyway.

Parent Portal and Transportation information
Every year, families that need transportation, must register in order to be assigned a bus. You MUST log into your parent portal account and request bus transportation. Click the link below for information on how to register for a bus.

5. Mark Your Calendars...Full STEAM Ahead Capital Campaign fundraiser is starting 7/26 and will conclude on 8/9/2024! More information will be sent home next Friday. We have a big goal to raise $30,000 this year!

PTO DINE-OUT NIGHT--JULY 24!
Our PTO already has our first Dine-out day ready to go! It will be at Chipotle on July 24, 2024 from 4-8pm. Please show them this flyer when ordering!
Elementary Student Handbook and Signature Page
If you are new to CUSD, we highly recommend that you take the time to read through the handbook to understand all of the guidelines that are outlined within. If you are able, please print the signature page and return to your teacher as soon as possible. We also have printed handbooks in the front office that you can pick up or we can send home with your child. Please call or come in to request a copy. Thank you!

Morning Arrival
*STUDENTS ARE NOT TO BE DROPPED OFF BEFORE 8:20am unless they are coming for breakfast or are in a morning club*
Breakfast: 8:10am
Front gate opens @ 8:20am
First bell rings @ 8:35am
Gates close and tardy bell @ 8:40am
**After 8:40am, students must be signed in by an adult**
AFTERNOON DISMISSAL
Kindergarten releases at 2:55pm
1-6th grade releases at 3:10pm
Front office hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
Phones open until 4:30pm
Need to meet with a staff member/administration in person?
