Developing student-focused pathways for a lifetime of opportunities through
innovation, exploration, and community partnerships.
Message from the Principal
Hello CLA Families,
This is a very exciting time of year! As we move into February, CLA High School is ready to take on the new challenges of 2nd Semester. Our students are experiencing the pride of a job well done as they just concluded 1st Semester and earned more credits toward graduation on their transcripts. Knowing that hard work pays off provides students with confidence and propels them toward the next challenge. New courses, new responsibilities, new activities, and new challenges. Witnessing this growth in students is the most rewarding part of the job!
Did you know? We have students utilizing our flexible model to tackle new challenges this semester in college courses at RCC and KCC, participating in sports (wrestling, basketball, dance, and cheer), taking extended electives at EPHS, working part-time jobs, and planning for their futures. All of this is in addition to their CLA coursework.
I am proud of our students at CLA, and thankful for the opportunity to witness their determination as they achieve new challenges this semester. Parents, thank you for your continued support.
All the best,
Jennifer Evans

Winter benchmarking will continue. At CLAHS, we use the data collected from these tests to show and celebrate the growth your student is showing in Math and Reading. This is not a high-stakes test, but a chance for students to show what they know and see how they are growing! Please encourage your student to do their best. We will share the growth from Fall and Winter benchmarking at Spring Conferences.
We will conduct Winter MAPS testing during Advisory on the following dates:
9th and 11th Grade
- Monday, February 6th (Reading)
10th and 12th Grade
- Tuesday, February 7th (Reading).
This is REQUIRED for all students. For students who attend the minimum 30-minute Advisory meeting, they should prepare to be on campus on their advisory day for the duration of one test per week (approximately 1 hour). We will have a modified direct instruction schedule on these days to accommodate testing.

What is the Pathway program at CLA?
The goal at CLA is that every kid graduates plus. That plus means they leave high school with the skills to take the next step on their journey. Whether that means they are off to a 4 or 2 year degree, go to a trade school, an apprenticeship, the military, or go directly into the workforce. CLA is committed to ensuring all students have the necessary skills for their next steps.

The Distinguished Gentlemen Initiative exists to partner with parents and community leaders to get the best from our young men. We recognize as an entity; young men are faced with odds that are not insurmountable but are certainly challenging. We are hoping that these young men become ambassadors during this series."
