Wiggin Street Parent Update

Better Together
Families,
We have our fingers crossed for good weather on Tuesday for our Water Day Summer Reading reward. The kids are looking forward to it, and I can't wait to get water dumped on my head for them reaching their Lexia goal. LOL!
Our Mumkin fundraiser ends tonight at midnight and we are 3/4 of the way to reaching our goal of purchasing new mats for the climbing wall in the gym. It's another step in the restoration. The walls, doors, and bleachers are all painted, and we have a projector permanently secured for assemblies and gym activities. Also, Mr. Baer gave a fresh coat of wax to the gym floor. It's made a great difference!
Lastly, our teachers have posted the flyer below in their rooms and talked about the definition of bullying with their students. The word gets used incorrectly at times, and we thought it would be helpful to share it with you to discuss at home. Students know that my most important job is to keep all them safe and feeling welcome at school. Small problems can turn into big problems if not dealt with, so we encourage students to share their concerns with staff. Thanks for trusting us to meet your students' needs each day!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff

PTO Corner
Interested in being more involved with our school? Our PTO, Friends of Wiggin Street, will have their next meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4th @ 5:00 pm. All are welcome!
We had a great turnout this week!
Thrive Kids
During week 1 of Thrive Kids we discussed the importance of being a LEADER who Looks around to help, protect, and inspire. Each week we will discuss a different aspect of a LEADER and how the students can practice being a leader today!
Our movement challenge for this week was a 1-minute run. The students challenged themselves to run for 1-minute and then recorded their score. We will re-test the 1-minute run at the end of the 6-week session! Each week we will work on improving the students’ cardiovascular strength through a variety of workouts and challenges!
