TOWN & COUNTRY INSIDER
FALL 2023
Welcome
Letter from Shevaun Etier, Executive Director:
We have had an amazing start to the 2023-2024 school year. Every day I come in the door at Town & Country School, I feel extremely fortunate to spend my day with some of the most amazing staff and students anywhere. This year is no exception! I truly believe that every student on this campus has the ability and the potential to accomplish great things! As we begin the school year, I just want to thank the families, staff, board members, donors, and community members for supporting our students and our school. We are looking forward to a great year. Keep an eye on us and just watch what we can do!
Letter from Denise Jurbala, Director of Admissions:
Fall is such an exciting time of the year at Town & Country School! Going back to school after summer break is a time for students to embrace opportunities that encourage new meaningful friendships, building self-esteem, confidence, and success in their academics.
This 2023-2024 school year we have the opportunity to help change the lives of 26 new elementary students, 6 new middle school students, and 5 new high school students and their families. Just to be part of this new journey for them is a tremendous privilege. Please take the time to welcome all our new students and families to our Town & Country Community.
Letter from Anne Scalet, Lower and Middle School Administrator:
As an educator of over 40 years, both as a teacher and an administrator, I feel very blessed to be a part of the Town & Country Community. In the one year that I have been here, I have found that we are more than a school, we are a family. Our parents, faculty, staff, and administration all have one goal in mind and that is to provide the best well-rounded education possible, both academically and socially for our kids. I am looking forward to this school year with excitement, and I am eager to provide our students with new opportunities and experiences.
Letter from Devin Cross, Upper School Administrator:
Being a first-year principal, I honestly did not know what to expect. The first week of school was a very emotional week for me, with the loss of a former student and a few chaotic moments that played out. But in the grand scheme of things, the school year is off to a good start. It is awesome to hear the halls filled with laughter, seeing smiles on the faces of students and staff, and seeing new friendships starting to blossom. I loved teaching, but I am really enjoying being part of the administration team here at Town & Country!
Shout-out
41 years at T&C from Debbie Douglass, Teacher - Outback Classroom:
My mom steered me into special education when she and I did volunteer work with the developmentally disabled. My dad helped me land my job at T&C 41 years ago when he introduced me to one of the original teachers here. So, you might say it was a family affair. Speaking of families, T&C has some of the most dedicated parents. First, they found us, somehow. I love working with these students and parents. They have come to the right place. It's a challenge every year to help close the gap between where our students are and where they can be, academically and socially, but that is why I have signed up for this job that I love. Helping students thrive is what Town & Country is all about.

Testimonials
"If you have a child with special needs you've got to check this school out! They have worked wonders with my son. He loves school now! The teachers and all of the staff members are so great! I highly recommend it! I don't worry about other kids picking on my son anymore. This school has given me peace of mind!" -Town & Country School Parent
"Town & Country has provided this student the tools that help him understand his weaknesses, shown him ways to use his strengths, and has therefore been instrumental in his ability to view himself as a person of value. This allowed him to understand how to build better relationships with his peers and teachers. He is empowered to be the best he can be in all aspects of his life."
