Please remind your student to plug in and charge their computer every night so that they are prepared for the following school day. Preparation helps academic progress and self-confidence.

Spring Conferences will be on Thursday, April 13th from 4-7:30pm at Fridley High School. Please come through Door 1 (main entrance) to receive your student's schedule and map. Conferences take place in the media center, media center hallway, and cafeteria.

The Academic Deans will be available this night to register scholars for summer school. Scholars who need credit recovery will be informed upon check-in at the main desk when you pick up your scholar’s schedule.

Reminder: Mid-term grades are updated and viewable on Parent Portal. Please check on your students' progress in their classes and reach out if there are any questions.

Juniors and seniors intending to participate in the PSEO program, whether part-time or full-time, must have all paperwork including the FHS contract and the Minnesota state form turned in by May 30th, 2023. All required meetings, including parent meetings with deans, must take place before this date as well. Please contact your scholar's academic dean if you have any questions about the PSEO process or to schedule a meeting.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible households a discount of up to $30 per month off their internet bills (or up to $75 per month for households living on Tribal lands), as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 off an eligible connected device like a laptop, desktop computer or tablet. In many cases, households can get high-speed internet without paying a dime by choosing a fully covered internet plan.

This announcement serves as a reminder that a household is eligible to participate in the ACP if a child in the household receives free or reduced-price school meals. Therefore, under the ACP rules, every household with a child attending a school participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program is eligible for ACP benefits.

Households can learn more and apply for the ACP at GetInternet.gov​.

While this reminder is specific to schools that are participating in CEP, additional information about eligibility for CEP discount benefits can be found in the School Outreach Toolkit PDF (English) and School Outreach Toolkit PDF (Spanish). The toolkit provides information about ways households can qualify for the ACP, including through an individual student’s participation in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program providing free or reduced-price meals; through a household member’s participation in a wide range of other federal assistance programs like Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and many others; or based on the household’s income (up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level).

The TAP is designed to make public transit more affordable for people with lower incomes. TAP provides a year-long reduced fare pass on a Go-To Card. Customers can use a bus or train for just $1 per ride – even during rush hour – with a 2½ hour transfer.

Students who receive free/reduced lunch (and other members of their families) are eligible for this program and can apply online or in-person at one of the Metro Transit Facilities. Students can use their Fridley IDs as proof of identify and can use a Free/Reduced Lunch Approval Letter as the proof of eligibility for the program. Graduation is coming! This year's commencement ceremony will take place on our very own Fridley High School Football Field!

We have started collecting the senior participation fee for any senior wishing to participate in the commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 1st at 7pm. If you are a parent/guardian of a 12th grader and have not paid this fee, please submit your $40.00 graduation fee to Fatima Alnizami in the main office as soon as possible.

We will be holding a senior meeting on April 24th during advisory (9-9:30am). All seniors (including PSEO) are expected to attend. This meeting will cover:

• Senior All Night Party Information

• Credit recovery/extended day deadlines to graduate

We will share the slides in google classroom after the meeting if you are unable to attend.

The application for Fridley Community scholarships is now open! The application is posted on the Class of 2023 Google Classroom page. All Fridley High School and Fridley ALC seniors are encouraged to apply.

Last year, over $130,000 was awarded to seniors. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at an evening ceremony on May 18th. The application will close at 4:00pm on April 14th. If you have any questions about the scholarship application or the process, please contact your student’s academic dean.

As graduation is fast approaching, it is time to begin the SENIOR SLIDESHOW. Using the link below, upload images of yourself throughout the years. You can include group photos, friends, hangouts, etc. Make sure you submit some photos of yourself, too! The link to add photos is posted in the senior google classroom.

Matt Kiefer, the Get Ready Program staff at Fridley High School, is here to help you! Matt Kiefer is available to meet before/after school or through a google meet. If you still need to complete your student's FAFSA, the following documents are required:

• 2021 Tax Forms (1040 tax forms)
• Social security numbers, birthdates, and personal emails of Parents/Guardians and 12th Grade student

• 2021 W-2 Forms for parents and student (if student completed taxes in 2021)
• Estimate of current amount in savings, checking, and cash.
• FSA ID created for student and for one parent/guardian

Thank you to all our students who are eating breakfast and lunch with us. We enjoy seeing everyone enjoying the variety of school made items daily. We continue to offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables at each school. Pease check your child's lunch balance on the Parent Campus Portal. Cash or check is accepted at your school's main office or credit card payments can be made through the Campus Parent Portal.

If you have not completed an Application for Educational Benefits, these can still be completed on the district website here. Applications can be completed at any time during the school year, if you are approved for benefits and have an outstanding negative balance, you are still responsible for what is owed prior to the application being approved.

For families to potentially qualify for summer P-EBT benefits, an Application for Free/Reduced priced meals must be submitted and approved by May 11, 2023, AND the student must be enrolled in the district the last month of the school year. Benefits are paid directly to eligible family's late summer using the same process as previous years. The district is still waiting for additional information and guidance from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Please continue to check the district website for any additional updates.

Middle and High School students will need to have their bar code card, student id, picture of their bar code or the bar code on the Campus Student App at the cashier station.

For the 2022-23 school year all students eligible for transportation MUST request by this form: https://www.fridleyschools.org/-us/departments/transportation

If we do not receive a form, your student will not be assigned to a bus. This process is new this year due to the driver shortage. Please submit the form as soon as possible to ensure your student(s) has a bus stop assigned.

With seasonal flu, RSV, and other respiratory illnesses on the rise, remember to keep your students home when they have a fever of 100 degrees or higher, are throwing up, have diarrhea, or are generally not feeling well. Please teach your kids how and when to wash hands with soap and water, cover their cough, and how and when to use hand sanitizer, to help decrease the spreading of germs.

The Parent Portal is designed specifically for parents, providing school information at your fingertips with real-time access to announcements, attendance, assignments, Transportation, grades (if applicable), schedules and more. Parents can view all children they are assigned as guardian to and that are currently enrolled in Fridley Public Schools, grades PreK 12. Each parent/legal guardian should create their own account for their children.
