A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
We are almost at the day we've all been waiting for, the first day of school! Our first day is this Wednesday, August 17th! Our doors open at 7:20am, and parents are welcome to walk your students to class the first 3 days of school. Please ensure you have a government-issued ID with you each day to enter the building. The school day officially begins at 7:40am.
On Monday, August 15th we are excited to host Meet the Teacher that evening! Teachers will contact families that morning to introduce themselves. If you purchased the pre-packaged school supplies earlier this summer, they will be in the classrooms waiting for you. If you have your school supplies at home, we encourage you to bring them to Meet the Teacher to make the first day of school a smooth transition.
To ensure that Meet the Teacher goes smoothly, I encourage you to ensure you have completed the registration process. Don't forget that even if your child is returning to Schluter, registration must still be completed, and we need an updated proof of residency. Information you need for next steps is below.
If your child is still needing immunizations, there is one final NISD immunization clinic available on Monday, August 15th, from 3:00-6:00pm at the NISD Administration Building. The address is 2001 Texan Drive, Justin, TX 76247.
One more thing to note is that our 22-23 Arrival & Dismissal procedures are now linked below. Please familiarize yourself with our processes to help make arrival and dismissal as safe as possible for our students, our staff, and all of our families.
I can't wait to see all of our new and returning students on Monday at Meet the Teacher!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams
- WHAT'S HAPPENING -
Have you registered your child for school yet? Online enrollment is open for the 2022-2023 school year! Enrollment doesn’t roll over year to year and is required annually. Families can complete an easy 1-2-3 process for returning students to quickly register their children for next school year.
For families of currently enrolled students who will return next year, the process will take a matter of a few minutes with a quick, three-step process in Home Access Center. Learn more about the documents you’ll need to enroll, or get the process started at www.nisdtx.org/enroll.
To change your preferences, just log into ParentSquare and click your name at the top right of the screen. From there, click “My Account,” then “Notification Settings” on the left sidebar. The instant feature will send you all communication as soon as it’s posted by a staff member (this will result in more communication received), and the digest feature will send you an email at 6 p.m. with all communication from our campus (resulting in fewer messages at one time, unless a staff member has opted to send important information instantly). It’s all up to you how you receive our communication!
School Meal Information
Northwest ISD’s food services team is excited for the return of students on August 17, and the department is prepared for a successful and nutritious school year.
School cafeterias continue to accept cash and check payments, and families can load funds into their students’ accounts at www.myschoolbucks.com. Information about meal prices is available at this webpage.
Free & Reduced Lunch Program
While the federal government subsidized a free meal program that Northwest ISD implemented for all elementary and middle school students last year, this program was not funded for 2022-2023. This means families who meet income requirements should apply for the free and reduced-cost meal program if they believe their children should qualify for these meals.
Students in this program receive one breakfast and one lunch combo meal daily for their free or reduced-cost price. Families can apply online or print out a paper copy of the form. Those who previously were accepted into the program will have a 30-day grace period to reapply.
