Beginning of the Year Information
Teacher Assignments- Friday, August 4
Teacher assignments will be available to parents through the SIS Parent Portal on Friday, August 4, 2023. For more information regarding the Parent Portal, please click on the following link PARENT PORTAL DIRECTIONS.
Meet the Teacher Night (K-5)- Wednesday, August 16, from 5-7 p.m.
This event will be on Wednesday, August 16, beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. In order to minimize large crowds and allow for adequate parking, we encourage all families with last names beginning with A-L to attend from 5-6 p.m., Families whose last names begin with the letters M-Z can attend from 6-7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, see your classroom, and talk to some friends. We hope to see you there!
First Day of School- Monday, August 21 (We can't wait to see your kids!)
Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. Staff members will be stationed throughout the hallways to help students get to their designated classrooms.

2023-2024 School Supply Lists
Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten Orientation will take place on two days- Tuesday, August 15 (PM only) and Wednesday, August 16 (AM Only). Each family will sign up for one appointment for their child. Appointments for Tuesday, August 15, will begin at 12 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. in the teacher's classroom. Appointments for Wednesday, August 16, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. The appointment will be 15 minutes long. This format allows our kindergarten teachers to begin building positive rapport with each of our students. During the appointment, the beginning of the year assessments will be administered in a 1:1 setting with your child. Our assessments will also be more valid as they will be given with just one student in the classroom instead of having a classroom full of students while assessing.
Sign-ups for this day will be sent out through email on Friday, August 4 (the same day teacher assignments are available in SISK12 Parent Portal). It is critical that families are prompt because appointments are scheduled back to back. The appointment will not be a parent-teacher conference, and no results will be shared during this appointment due to time constraints. School supplies should not be brought to the appointment. All school supplies can be brought to Meet the Teacher Night that evening (August 18th) from 5-7 p.m.
During your child’s appointment, parents will complete a beginning-of-the-year survey for your child’s kindergarten teacher. Also, families will view a short video message. The video message will explain important Lakeview procedures and explain what a typical day is like. After viewing the video message, families are welcome to stop by the main office with further questions.
We look forward to meeting all of our newest Lions in a couple of weeks!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
This is an important reminder of the drop-off and pick-up procedures that we will enforce for the safety and efficiency of the students and parents at Lakeview Elementary.
- Staff supervision and student drop-off begin at 8:45 a.m. If you arrive early, wait with your child(ren) until 8:45 a.m., in your car, in the car rider line, to assure that they are supervised.
- Parents should not drop students off in the parking lot in order to avoid the drop-off line. This can create a serious safety hazard, as cars entering/exiting likely are not expecting to see children walking or running in areas of the lot other than in the drop-off zone.
***IMPORTANT *** Due to student safety, students who walk home from school will not be able to meet their parents at the front of the building. Parents will need to meet their children at the Fox Ridge sidewalk or the playground (West Wind). If you are picking up your child by car, then you need to utilize the parent pick-up line.
Walkers/Bike-riders- Walkers/Bike-riders are defined as students who walk/ride home on their own without a parent/guardian. The parking lot is not a designated crosswalk and is extremely dangerous for students to walk through unattended. Please do not bypass the carline for convenience and put your child and others in danger. Please do not put your children or our staff in this situation.
Car Riders- Car Riders are defined as students who will have parents/guardians who will utilize our car rider line to drive through and pick their child up. This is the most efficient way if a parent is coming to pick their child up. The line might look long but it moves quickly.
- All cars will enter at the west entrance of the building near the school's marquee. Cars will line up and follow the directions of the staff members facilitating the car rider pick-up.
- When prompted, parents will "scan" the QR code listed on their Parent Pickup tag and sign in. Please wait until prompted to scan/enter your information. Please include the names of all children you are picking up and grades.
- Cars will pull in front of the building
- Students must enter/exit curb-side for safety.
- Cars will then promptly exit the parking lot at the same entrance/exit of the building. Cars are not allowed to cut through the parking lot and access the east entrance to leave.
- Please take a moment to view the Arrival/Dismissal MAP so that you are familiar with the procedures on the first day.
A smooth and efficient procedure takes all of us to work together. I appreciate your willingness and expect all parents to follow the outlined procedures.
WSD Back to School Fair
The WSD plans to host the 13th Annual Back to School Fair for District families on Saturday, August 12, from 8-11am at Liberty High School. The event is intended to get school supplies in the hands of WSD students who need them the most.
The event is free for District families and will feature dozens of vendors, free school supplies, games and fun activities for children. At last year's event, we distributed over $10,000 worth of school supplies to WSD students. In addition, MOChip will be on hand to provide free child identification kits.
While the event is free, families are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Operation Food Search, which serves local families in need. For more information, visit the WSD website: https://bit.ly/WSDBTSFair23. #WeAreWentzville
