Dolvin Diary
February 15, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
It’s time for Fulton County Schools’ Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Monday, February 12, through Friday, March 15.
Student opinions are important too! Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 12 and March 15 during the school day. In our ongoing efforts to remain transparent with parents, please take a moment to review the 3-5 Student Survey and/or the 6-12 Student Survey.
The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi.
The Parent FAQ is now available in: English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and Punjabi (see attachments).
In 2023 Dolvin’s parent participation was 66.02% - one of the highest rates in the county. Fulton County has challenged each school to increase parent participation by 5% this year – please let your voice be heard and help us reach the goal of 71% parent participation!
To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/annualparentsurvey or scan the QR code with a smartphone. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
Your proud principal,
Karen
PBIS At-Home Tip of the Week
Use positive wording. 😊 Instead of “Don’t run in the store,” try “You must walk in the store.” Instead of “Stop yelling,” try “Use your inside voice.” Instead of “No throwing the ball in the house,” try “You can only throw the ball outside.”
The article by Laura Riffel entitled “Getting Behavior in Shape at Home”, available in English and Spanish on the www.pbis.org website, can be used to assist you with incorporating PBIS into your daily routines.

Clinic News
Our school is committed to creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all students and staff. To keep our daily commitment, we ask that you please abide by the following guidelines put in place by District Health Services. No student that vomits, has diarrhea, or has a fever greater than 100.4 will be permitted to attend school that day. He or she will not be permitted to return to school unless the vomiting/diarrhea has stopped for a minimum of 24 hours and/or be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours without the use of any fever-reducing medications, such as Tylenol. For example, if a student is sent home from school for vomiting at 11:30 a.m. and it was an isolated incident, that student would need to stay home the following day until 11:30 a.m. If sent to school that morning, he or she will not be allowed to remain at school and will be sent home. If a student spikes a fever overnight and it breaks at 6:30 a.m. The student still needs to remain home that day even if symptoms have improved. He or she may return the following day as long as there is no more fever without the use of medications. For more information regarding school policy please contact the clinic at 470-254-9281 or visit the parent resources tab at the DHS website https://www.fultonschools.org/districthealthservices. Thank you.
Volunteers
As of January 3, 2024, Fulton County Schools is utilizing the CheckMate Sign-In system to welcome visitors and volunteers into our schools. CheckMate has replaced the Raptor system. Unfortunately, the Volunteer Registration system did not roll over into the new system and all School Volunteers will need to re-register. Any task that will allow you to interact with students will require you to register as a Volunteer. The new re-registration will be effective until May 31, 2026. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. Please follow the link below to access the FCS Volunteer Registration page.
https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/9539
Important - All Visitors and Volunteers must remember to bring in their driver's license each time they sign in. The license will be scanned each time. Thank you for your patience as we are implementing this new safety procedure.
Rising 6th Grade Parents - School Governance Council (SGC)
Dear Rising 6th Grade Autrey Mill Middle School Parents,
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has one parent position open for election starting in July 2024. It is a two-year term.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers: • Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan • Manage the Request for Flexibility process • Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations • Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy • Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance.
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent Candidate Form . Forms will be available on Monday, February 5th.
We are very excited about the work of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 29th and voting will take place April 17th to April 24th. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit Charter System (SGC) / Charter System Overview (fultonschools.org).

School Store Volunteer Request
The Dolvin PTA School Store takes place on select Wednesdays in the month before school starts. We sell fun school related products mostly all less than $1. It's fun for the kids and helps them manage the money they have, to make necessary trade-offs for the things they really want.
We are in search of parent volunteers to help us manage the store. It is a great way to interact with the kids and happens before the school or work day starts.
Foundation News
Valentine’s Day may be over, but the spring Fun Run is right around the corner! The Foundation has formed a Fun Run Spirit Committee to help manage all the activities that go along with this annual fundraising event. If you are a registered volunteer and would like to get involved, please email us at dolvinesfoundation@gmail.com for more information.
And, we’re proud to announce that 100% of this year’s proceeds will stay at Dolvin - you read that right! Every dollar donated will go to directly benefit the school. Our Fun Run just keeps getting better - spread the word!
