The Power of a Kind Note or Voicemail
In schools, we most often receive notes, emails, or calls when there is a problem or some frustration brewing. That is totally normal and expected. We need to hear from you when things are not going well so we can partner with you to solve problems. That being said, we also like to hear when things are going well!
Our teachers work hard every day to be prepared so that when our kids walk in the door, they are ready to go and excited for learning. Our teachers have many different styles and many different personalities which is really good for kids. It prepares them for the real world where they will experience all types of colleagues and bosses.
One small gift that you can give teachers (and all staff) is short, uplifting, kind notes during the year. Those notes mean more than you know. Teachers keep those handy for tough days when they need a boost. When you recognize the good someone does, it puts a positive deposit in our emotional bank that we can withdraw from when we need it.
That one simple note, call, or email can make a big difference in the day of an educator. In advance, thank you for your kindness.
Parent Teacher Conference
Yesterday and today, Parent, Teacher, Student conferences took place here at Wredling. We would like to thank you for taking the time to participate in these conferences. During these meetings, teachers and parents shared valuable information about your middle schooler, and in many cases students contributing to these conversations. Please take the time to have frequent, purposeful discussions with your student about his/her learning, academic progress, and goals for the future. We have found that when we take the time to listen to our kids and be responsive to their questions, lines of communication are stronger. Encourage your children to make positive changes as a result of the information shared at conferences. Support your student in his/her efforts to learn and work hard.
Please know that we encourage parent/teacher conferences occur anytime that the need arises. If you would like to schedule a conference, please contact your child’s teacher, team leader, or counselor. As parents, you are a vital component to not only your child’s educational success, but the overall success of our school. Thank you for supporting all of the learning that goes on here!

Patriot's Pen
Each year, nearly 68,800 students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest for a chance to win their share of more than $1.4 million in state and national awards. Each first place state winner shares in a national prize and receives a minimum of $500. The national first place winner wins $5,000!
The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.
All entries may be submitted to your child’s social studies teacher.
Please see attached Rules and Eligibility and Patriot’s Pen Entry Form and Rules
8th Grade Parents/Guardians
As our 8th Grade students participate in a significant number of assessments (i-Ready three times, Illinois Assessment of Readiness for Literacy/Math and Science) that provide similar information, we have determined that our 8th grade students will no longer take the PSAT 8/9 Assessment. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mr. David Chizsar, who is the Director of Assessment and Accountability.
Please note that our Infinity students and our AVID students WILL STILL take this assessment on October 26th.
We Want Your Photos! 📸
If you have pictures from yesterday’s WMS Color Run, please submit them to Mr. Massie (timothy.massie@d303.org), our WMS Yearbook Advisor. He will be working with our Yearbook Club participants to choose some for publication. Thank you!
Physical Education Reminder
Cooler weather is beginning to creep in. Please be aware that our PE classes will use outdoor instructional space if the weather permits and the temperature is 40 degrees or above. Your student will want to have sweatpants and a sweatshirt at school to be worn during their PE class. We encourage them to wear the extra layer on the colder days ahead.
Message from Service Learning Classes
The 6th-grade Service Learning classes will be doing fundraising over the coming weeks. The causes they have chosen include the National Cancer Society, CaringBridge, and Anderson Animal Shelter. If you would like to make a contribution, donations can be made during our6th-grade lunches. You may also drop off an envelope containing your donation at our main office. Please mark donations “care of Chrissy McPeak, WMS Service Learning Teacher” and include the name of the charity you wish to support. Thanks so much!

WMS- Big Hearts Needs Our Help!
Many WMS students benefit from Big Hearts. Can you pick up a gift this weekend and send to WMS during the week?
Big Hearts of Fox Valley Week will be celebrated throughout the City of
St. Charles the week of October 10-16th!
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization making a difference in our own community by brightening the lives of D303 children affected by financial hardship at Christmas time and throughout the school year.
Please bring in a NEW unwrapped toy or board game during this week to show your support for D303 kids in need. Each school will be collecting these items for the annual Big Hearts Toy Drive. We also encourage you to wear RED on Friday to help raise awareness for Big Hearts of Fox Valley.
