The Badger Bulletin
Brandywine Elementary Monthly Newsletter
Message from Mrs.Tremps
Dear Brandywine community,
It is hard to believe that we are entering the last quarter of the 2022-2023 school year. It has been an incredible year. We have been #onourway to amazing things! Our teachers are working collectively to plan learning experiences that will engage your students at high levels. Most importantly, we are creating a safe and supportive learning environment where our badgers can feel connected, nurtured, and supported. I want to thank our families for partnering with us. We couldn’t do any of this without your support.
Looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year, we are projected to be at approximately 1,200 students. Our staff will look very similar to what we have this year. As we plan for class placements, please know that if you would like to give input towards your child’s teacher for next year, you will need to send in a letter addressed to me. We do not accept specific teacher names but do want to know if a sibling had a specific teacher. The best feedback we need is about your student’s personality, disposition, and needs. You can also describe the characteristics of an ideal teacher for your child based on that information. Please have this letter to me by May 5th.
Spring Break will be April 3rd – April 7th. I hope you can spend time with family, rest, and rejuvenate in preparation for the last month and a half of school. Many of our student’s experience “Spring Fever” and we have noticed an increase in behavior referrals. Please continue to have conversations with your students about appropriate behaviors. I especially want to request that you please limit or eliminate access to technology and apps meant for older children. Elementary school aged students should not be on social media as they are not developmentally ready for it. We find that many of our behavior referrals are linked to premature exposure to social media and unsupervised access to YouTube and similar applications. Thank you in advance for your support!
We are so excited to partner with you for family engagement opportunities. A few more we have this Spring are:
- Leap Into Literacy (for parents and pre-k through first grade students)– Thursday, March 16th 5:30pm - Cafeteria
- SPARK Parent Technology Training (navigate the school website) – Thursday, March 23rd 8am – Media Center
- Coffee & Conversations (for parents) – Thursday, April 13th 9am – Media Center
With Spring quickly approaching, we have the state testing season. Please ensure that your student is getting plenty of rest and enjoying a nutritious breakfast. The dates for our Georgia Milestones End of Grade assessment are in the chart below.
Thank you again for everything you have done this year to support us. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time!

The Georgia Milestones testing window is April 24 – May 5
Parents, please refer to the reminders and tips below to help your child be successful during testing:
- Make sure your child is well rested. He/she should go to bed early each night.
- Make sure he/she eats a good breakfast. Your brain needs fuel to function.
- Make sure your child is present each day of testing as any missed sections will have to be made up on another day.
- Make sure your child dresses in comfortable clothing. A light jacket /sweater would be good for students that are cold-natured.
- Please encourage your child to do his/her best and not to be anxious about the test!
- To help you stay calm and confident right before and during the test, perform relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, relaxing your muscles one at a time, or closing your eyes and imagining a positive outcome.
We are here to help if your child feels nervous about the test!
Love,
Lizzie & Jess

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine Open House
On Friday, April 7th, 2023, the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine will be hosting our annual Open House event. Some of the events include a veterinary student Q&A panel, a dog petting booth, a “reading to dogs” station, face painting, Veterinary Teaching Hospital tours, “teddy bear surgery,” and a UGA CVM merchandise sale, among many other fun-filled events! There will also be guest appearances from the beloved mascot Uga, as well as Hairy Dawg (10-11am)! Although this is a free event, we do recommend bringing around $10 to $20 in cash for food and drinks.
There will be free guest parking with a shuttle running between the parking lot and the CVM if students and families choose to attend on their own since this event is taking place over the Forsyth County Spring Break.
