LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP
Dear PTA members,
Happy New Year! Each new year provides an opportunity to reflect on the past, and this year is no different. I'm starting this year in gratitude for the many people who impact students in our community, including the steadfast Frisco ISD PTA members.
The PTA continues to listen to and meet the needs of students and educators on each campus while empowering families to advocate for all children. Without a doubt, your service leadership is a vital part of what made the first semester of this school year a success. From PTA-sponsored events to the clothes closet, your dedication is truly admirable.
Thank you for everything you do for the campus community and the District. We are a destination district thanks to a community to the growth and development of children.
Another group I am thankful for is our School Board members. January is School Board Recognition Month, and the Board, like the PTA, works to advocate for families. You are invited at a reception on January 16 at 4 p.m.
With this new year comes new opportunities to aspire and inspire, and your continued commitment to Frisco ISD is appreciated.

LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Hello Frisco ISD Families!
We hope that y’all had a wonderful Holiday Break. It certainly was nice to relax and recharge with our families.
As we enter into the Spring Semester, we wanted to send a special thank you and recognize all of our Local PTA’s and their volunteers for all the countless hours they spent bringing joy to their campuses in the fall. Across our district, campuses were hosting Book Fairs, Fun Runs, Carnivals, Programs, Winter Parties, Dances, etc. It is no small feat to execute all the activities and we are extremely grateful. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to bring joy to our students!
Also, if you have not yet joined your local PTA or renewed your yearly membership, please consider joining. It is not too late and your local PTA(s) could use your support. The more members that we have, the bigger voice we have to advocate for our students and honestly, the more money we have to do what we do day in and day out. There are still a lot more activities (i.e. Dances, Parties, multicultural nights, Field Days, Teacher Appreciation week, Programs, etc) that your Local PTA will host in the Spring and they could use the additional support. If you have personally already joined, please consider having your spouse, child, or grandparent join as well.
Lastly, we as a Council have several activities coming up in the Spring that we are excited to share with our Community. On February 12th, we will be hosting a watch Party for Texas PTA Straight Talk. Straight Talk is a program that Texas PTA hosts every other year and this year it will be on Navigating the Smartphone Era. They will have Special Guests from BARK, The Social Institute, a Former Superintendent and HS Seniors on how smartphones affect the minds, bodies and classroom. More info HERE but we would love to have you join our watch party or join live on your own. Later in the Spring, we will also be hosting a Celebration Night at the RoughRiders, our Lifetime Achievement Ceremony and a Summer Prep Training. More info to come on all of those events but we look forward to celebrating all of our local campuses and training those who will be serving on their Local Board in the Fall.
Please let us know if you have any questions or would like more information on anything included in our newsletter!
Joyfully,
Cyndi Arakas, President
