Blood Drive

Thank you to everyone that came and donated blood at our last blood drive that was held on January 16. The next blood drive will be held on March 15 at the Guttenberg Municipal Building from 12 p.m- 5p.m. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit http://www.redcross.org/ to schedule an appointment. We would really appreciate it if more community members would donate. By donating you can potentially save up to three lives! Donating also allows the students that host the blood drive to earn additional scholarship money.
Healthcare in Education Career Exploration at NICC
The "Healthcare in Education" career exploration day at Keystone AEA was held January 26.
Occupational Therapist, OTA, Physical Therapist, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, SLP, Audiologist, Early ACCESS provider, Deaf & Hard of Hearing & Visual Impairment providers held 20 minute sessions with rotations.
Students Lily Hoeger, Ella Oberbreckling, Haleigh Ihde, and Maddie Troester were accompanied by Mrs. Hansel.

CRMS students traveled to Sundown for their annual ski trip on January 25.

Miss Domeyer's Preschool Class Welcomes Mrs. Bilden
Miss Domeyer’s class enjoyed having Mrs. Bilden in their classroom to read a few books and play a quick game of rock, paper, scissors!
Mrs. Bilden Visits Fifth Grade
Elementary principal Mrs. Bilden visited 5th grade and taught the students how to stack cups using rubber bands, string and drinking straws. Students worked together using only the supplies to move and stack cups. Teamwork, communication and patience helped groups stack cups.
Students enjoyed the activity and look forward to Mrs. Bilden's visit.
Mrs. Bilden led a team building activity with Mrs. Connelly’s third grade students. The students were required to stack cups using only rubber bands, straws, or strings, and not use their hands. The purpose of the activity was to work together as a team to achieve a goal.
The Mitten, an Osborne Program, in Mrs. Hampton's Preschool
Osborne came and presented the program The Mitten to Mrs. Hampton’s Preschool class. First, they got to hear the story The Mitten by Jan Brett. Next, they talked about and saw animals that were in the story. Last, they each got to choose which animal from the story they wanted to be and go inside a mitten just like the animals in the story!

Mrs. Hampton’s Preschool class enjoyed their special guest reader today! It was their Principal Mrs. Bilden!
MS and HS Band Students Visit Fifth Grade
Clayton Ridge High School Band students visited the 5th grade. Fifth graders asked questions about band and high school students shared their experiences!
Free Throw Awards
Students participated in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition. Here are our local winners from the elementary school.

Sword Fighting in English I and II
Mr. Jason Tipsword visited the English I and English II classes to teach students about the techniques of sword fighting on stage. Both classes are reading Shakespeare plays and learned from Mr. Tipsword about how actors make fight scenes look real, and the techniques to sword fighting on stage. The sophomores also learned about different Ancient Roman battle techniques, as they are reading Julius Caesar. The students loved learning how to act out different scenes from the plays with sword props!
Romeo and Juliet in English I
Romeo and Juliet is in full swing in the English I classes! Students are having fun acting out different parts and learning about one of the most popular Shakespeare plays!
Cloud 9 Performed at West Delaware
On Monday, January 30, Clayton Ridge's Show Choir Cloud 9 performed at West Delaware. The performance was the first of the year and received a Division II rating. Show choir season is in full force!
World Read Aloud Day
The students and faculty enjoyed celebrating World Read Aloud Day with 43 guest readers! Kurt Wagner, the author of the children's book series, Anthony's Adventures, also spoke with students about the process of writing a book. A special thanks to Kurt Wagner and all community members and parents that participated by reading to our little eagles.
Fifth graders enjoyed listening to guest readers and reading to the kindergartners on Wednesday for World Read Aloud Day.
Earth Rules with Osborne
Miss Jenna from Osborne visited fifth grade, and students learned about the planets in our solar system.
Winter Survival Skills at Osborne
Fifth graders enjoyed a day full of learning at Osborne today. We are reading the novel, Hatchet, so today's winter survival teaching was perfect! We learned about shelter building, animal identification, and what to pack in a survival fanny pack.The 5th graders learned more about winter survival at Osborne. We had a great day!
Indoor Recess Fun
Indoor recess on cold winter days can still be active as fourth graders Jack Reimer and Keegan Sperfslage practice their ball handling moves.
When it's too cold to go outside, fifth graders play games and create weaving with our friends!
Rock On!
Preschoolers in Mrs. Hampton’s class each received a painted penguin rock from classmate Owen Aulwes.
Cotton Candy Fun
Principal Bilden made cotton candy to reward students for following PBIS expectations being ready, responsible, respectable, and safe on the shuttle bus.
ST Math Awards
Some of our Elementary Students have successfully completed the ST Math Program. ST Math uses a Spatial Temporal Approach to manipulate objects in space and time. This program gives students a familiarity with math concepts so they can better understand how to solve the problems. Jiji the Penguin is a main character in this program.

Eagle Pride Expectations Awards
Clayton Ridge Elementary Students took part in booster lessons to review our Eagle Pride Expectations of being Ready, Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. Older students did this through interactive Kahoot lessons and the younger students watched a review video called Rule with River! Get ready for some well-behaved students! #EaglePride
