Special Area at Lambs
Art with Ms. Bowers-Thank you so much to all of the students who worked hard on creating decorations for the Winter Performance! The stage looked great! We’ve had an awesome time in art reading lots of winter books and creating art based off of them. For example, our kindergarteners read Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and painted some snow covered trees! Make sure to keep an eye out on the special area hallway to see them! I hope everyone has a very fun break! Get lots of rest and be safe! See you in 2024!
PE with Coach Wilber-Hello Lamb's Families!!
This is what we have been working on and will be working on in PE class this January...
CD/K--We will learn about a new muscle of the month in January and discuss ways to increase the strength in this muscle. We will review ball catching and tossing activities with a partner the first few weeks back from Winter Break and then starting one of my favorite units, parachute activities and games. This unit is always a hit with the younger age levels!!
1st/2nd/3rd--This month we have been learning how to play four square with the goal of trying to play a four square tournament when we return in January. The classes have done very well with the basic instruction, so now it is time to try and use this to play a tournament!! After this we will begin our striking and hitting unit; (volleyball skills, Gaga Ball, pretty much anything that involves hitting and striking a ball or other object.)
4th/5th--We started working with the flag football equipment; using the flags to play different tag games while trying to reach the ultimate goal of playing a game of flag football; the flag football skills and games will continue to the end of January. We will also be having our mid-year fitness check-in (PACER test/push-ups/curl-ups to see our current levels of fitness) and starting a Volleyball Skills Unit In February, all while attempting to earn PE choice days. (Classes will have to follow the Lambs Traits in order to earn these days in January when we return.)
As always if you have any questions or need further clarifications please don't hesitate to reach out or send a message. Please double check your child's PE day so your child has the proper footwear so that they can be successful in PE class!!!
Music-We are saddened by the loss of Ms. Martin. We are currently looking for a music teacher, however there do not seem to be any certified staff in the area. If you know of anyone who is interested in serving our students for the remainder of this year and is musically inclined, please email jamie_mccarthy@charleston.k12.sc.us.
