Wrestling: The Eastview Wrestling Team had five wrestlers compete at the State Meet at Xcel Center March 3-4. Riley Myers was in the State Finals for the second year in a row! Her 2nd Place finish puts her in rare company as a two time state place winner! Ezra Formaneck finished his impressive season with a runner up finish at state! He only lost to one person all year! Nolan Enderlein earned the team record number of pins on his way to 3rd place in the State! Alex Baccoli had a dramatic come from behind win to earn him state placing honors where he finished 6th place. Ethan Dupont also wrestled well, but had an extremely tough draw and lost both of his matches. As a team, they earned Minnesota State Academic Runner-Up honors with a 3.85 GPA! Congrats Eastview Wrestlers and coaches on a great season!
Girls Basketball: The girls hoops team opened up their Section Tournament with a thrilling 49-42 win over Hastings as they overcame a late deficit and hit some big shots down the stretch! They then traveled to #2 Seed Eagan last Saturday afternoon and despite great hustle and defense, the shots were simply not falling and their season came to an end with a 49-37 loss to the eventual Section Champion. Congrats to the team and coaches on a great season that included an incredible turnaround and improvement the second half of the season.
CI and PI Hockey: Our Dakota Hawks teams are both headed back to the State Tournament on March 17-18 at Bloomington Jefferson. The CI Team is seeded #3 from the South Division and opens up in the State Quarterfinals at 8:00 on Friday vs. St. Cloud. Here is a link to the full bracket: https://www.mshsl.org/tournaments/2023-state-adapted-floor-hockey-ci-tournament The students from EV on the CI team are Thomas Christopherson, Deshawn Collins-Bascomb, Kyle Jacobson and Ada Kramer. The PI Team is seeded #1 from the South and will play their State Quarterfinal Game at 6:30 on Friday vs. Maple Grove. Here is their bracket: https://www.mshsl.org/tournaments/2023-state-adapted-floor-hockey-pi-tournament The four EV students on the PI team are: Jae Bahma, Samantha Jordheim, Jordan Johnson and Chloe Shibata
Boys Basketball: The boys hoops played two very different styles of games this week, but won them both to advance to the Section 3AAAA Championship Game on Thursday night! They will host #2 Seed Eagan at 7:00. On Tuesday, the Lightning defeated #8 Seed Hastings by a score of 103-40 in a very high scoring game and then on Friday night hit a last second buzzer beater to complete a 10 point comeback and defeat #4 Seed Rosemount 42-41! The Section Championship game is expected to sellout and no district badges, conference passes etc. will work as admission so if you plan to attend please buy your ticket early! Tickets will go on sale starting Monday at 8:00 a.m.
Good luck to all of our teams and Go Lightning!

District 196 Moving Forward with May 9 Bond Referendum Election: Two-Question Special Election Addresses District’s Facilities and Equipment Needs
District 196 School Board on Monday unanimously approved a resolution calling for a two-question bond referendum election on May 9, 2023, to address the district’s facilities and equipment needs for the next 10 years and beyond.
That was the recommendation of the administration and members of a Facilities and Equipment Steering Committee that conducted a comprehensive review of the district’s facilities and equipment needs over the last year and a half. The committee developed a facilities master plan and recommended the first phase of improvements to address needs in the areas of safety, security and supervision; space for growth, and providing students and families a more consistent experience in facilities across the district.
The proposed improvements were presented as preliminary recommendations at the Nov. 14 School Board meeting. They were then presented for public input during three nights of focus group dialogues in November, and online via a form on the district website. Learn more.
