Hello SVDP Community,

We are so excited to welcome 97% of our students to campus next week and to do so Monday through Friday! With your help, we have come a long way since August! We are also blessed that over half of our instructional staff has received their second dose of the COVID vaccine.

Our second trimester ends today, and your children will receive their report cards on Friday, March 5. Grade K - 2 students will bring home their paper report cards and for grades 3 - 8, parents will receive a link to a digital report card.

With almost all our students back on campus, please adhere to the drop-off and pick-up protocols to keep the line moving safely and swiftly.

• Do not turn from Steiner onto Green (from either direction). You may enter Green from Fillmore or further east and proceed west on Green.
• Use your family name placard for pick-up. Present the names of other families if you are carpooling.
• Always move forward in both the drop-off and pick-up lines. Do not leave gaps in the line.
• Do not arrive early for your scheduled pick-up, as this causes a backup for others that have arrived on time.
• If you are responsible for two different pick-up times, exit the line and reenter at Fillmore and Green.
• Do not exit the line before reaching the corner of Green and Pierce.
• Turn right ONLY onto Pierce when you reach the corner.

Change is the new norm, so here we go again! We ask that you show patience as we attempt to remain fluid, yet cautious in our decisions.

This week, the city of San Francisco updated their travel regulations. Click here for full release. Based on this information, here is the current policy at SVDP.

• If a student travels outside the state or country, they will need to quarantine for a minimum of five days upon return (time frame may be dependent on destination) and present a negative COVID result for a test taken approximately four days after their return home.
  
• If a student travels 120 miles from home, but does not leave the state, the state recommends that you quarantine, but it is no longer required.
• If you have non-Easter break travel plans, please contact administration@svdpsf.com to discuss specifics of travel plans, quarantine, testing, and learning options.

We cannot guarantee that this policy will be in place for Easter Break. Again, we ask for your patience and flexibility. We know people want to make plans, but all we can work with is what is happening today.

We will continue to plan on offering distance learning the week of April 12th - 16th, however, be aware that distance learning is no longer be HyFlex (where children Zoom into each class), but Directed Studies, where the students complete their work offline, but participates in scheduled teacher/student check-ins. In order for our teachers to know who to plan for in-person and distance, families must complete this quick questionnaire (click link or use the button below) regarding their travel plans. Please complete by March 19th.

This weekend, our 8th grade students will be confirmed by Fr. Michael Healy. The event will take place in two separate Masses, and they are not open to the public. The Masses will take place at 3:00PM and 5:00PM and will be live-streamed by the parish (use this link to connect to the Parish Facebook page). We hope you will keep our confirmandi in your thoughts and prayers.

Our families donated over 200 coats this week! Many thanks to all that participated and to our Parent Guild for making the arrangements to find them a new home.

March 4th and 5th are minimum school days so that teachers can host Parent/Teacher Conferences (virtual, of course). Different from our October conferences, these are upon teacher request. Please make sure to schedule your conference, if you received an email to do so.

Our thermometer didn't move this week (again) --- if you have not donated, please take a minute to support SVDP.

Our virtual visit with our WCEA/WASC team is less than one month away. It occurs to us that we use these terms, but not everyone may know what they mean. WCEA is the Western Catholic Educational Association. WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Both groups work in conjunction for our accreditation.

In addition to assessing our Catholic identity, the process involves looking at test scores, student satisfaction, parent satisfaction, graduation rates, and acceptance rates at Catholic high schools. They look at staff education level, experience, professional development, curriculum, and resource management.

As you know, we spent quite a bit of time preparing documentation and evidence for our team. Now we are focused on how to best have the team see the school and our students in action --- not as easy from afar, but thanks to technology, we have some innovative ideas on presenting SVDP to the team. There will also be virtual meetings with shareholders throughout the SVDP community.
