Principal Connection
December - a season of giving!
Thank you to everyone who helped us collect for families in need this month. Both our Badger Needs Network and Helping Hands donation drives have yielded many items for those in need within our community.
Last Wednesday we nearly filled the barrel! High School students were pleasantly surprised when they came to collect items from our school later that day. We have one more Wednesday left and our goal is to collect a little bit more! Last week we filled about 75% of the barrel and we have set a goal of filling it to the top this Wednesday. Please drop off non-perishable food items and/or toiletries by Wednesday - we will again be visited by our High School classmates this Wednesday for a final collection. Thank you for your consideration.
Helping Hands
In addition to filling the barrel, our FFA and VASD Social Workers are running our 34th Annual Holiday Gift Drive, Helping Hands. This year we have a record number of families requesting gifts...well over 400 families!
If you are able to help, we greatly appreciate it. All the gifts go to students in our school district, many you see each day at school. Middle and High School age gifts are always the most needed gifts. Gift cards are always a great gift.
You may sign up for a gift, go to our Signup Genius or to make a monetary donation you can visit the Classmunity page. If purchasing a gift, we ask that it is around $25-$30 and is unwrapped. You can bring it to your school location. FFA members will be coming to the schools on the morning of Dec 11 to pick up the gifts.
Thank you for your support and helping brighten up our students' day!!!!
Thank. you for consideration of these district-wide programs to support our community. If you are family that would like support this holiday season, please reach out to our school social worker, Laura Confer at conferl@verona.k12.wi.us.

Important Updates & Upcoming Dates
Attendance reminders:
Call us when your scholar is unable to be at school. To report an absence, you may:
- Call 608-845-4203 (English attendance line) or 608-845-4200 (main line with Spanish option) or

Contacting the attendance office directly is important!
You are welcome at Stoner Prairie - Volunteering and Visiting
Volunteers: Family members may work with students or groups of students routinely and may meet with them in a separate environment if necessary. Volunteers work with our school staff to have defined responsibilities when they are with us - for example, in the lunchroom volunteers hand out condiments, wash tables, and support student needs during lunch hours. Because of their contact across scholars, our district requires volunteers to complete materials including a background check (this is the link to complete needed materials): https://www.verona.k12.wi.us/departments/humanresources/careers/volunteer-information
Visitors: Family members may join our school for a short-term period of time and often join us for a specific reason. For example, we are currently seeing increased visitors that are helping Mr. Vergeront in our PE classes with rollerblading. Visitors may not meet with students independently and therefore do not require you to complete any materials online. However, all visitors need to get an identification name tag at the office.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you and well wishes to Ms. S.
Our exclusive substitute, Ms. Ida Sepulveda, will be leaving Stoner Prairie to join her husband in England, where he accepted a work assignment starting in January, 2024. Ms. S has worked across our school, spending extended time supporting our kindergarten scholars in Ms. Holland's room as we started this school year. We wish Ms. S well on her adventure over seas and want to thank her for all the support and care that she brought to our school. You will be missed!
Rollerblading time TONIGHT!
We are excited to have Family Skate Night on Monday, December 11th! Come out and skate with us! Please sign up all Stoner Prairie students and their adults that will plan to skate. We are offering four 45 minute skate periods. Adults that do not plan to skate do not need to sign up for a slot. We have rollerblades up to adult size 12. We also have helmets and wrist guards available to borrow.
