Mansfield High School Weekly Newsletter
Welcome (Back) to Mansfield High School!
I would first like to welcome all of our new MHS Tigers and welcome back all of our returning Tigers for the 2023-24 school year! We are so excited to have all of our students back on campus next week.
On the last day of each school week (usually Fridays), I send out a newsletter to keep parents and students updated of the "goings on" at MHS. The format I use for my newsletter allows me to send it through email and text message (with a link) for you to view. If you are like me, I usually get text messages quicker than emails, so hopefully you will feel "in the know" of what is happening at MHS!

Principal
Student Schedule Information
Schedules are Now Available in Skyward!
As of 5pm Monday, student schedules are now available to view in Skyward. Please log on to Skyward to see your schedules.
What is This 9th Block on My Schedule?
No, we have not added an additional class to our school day!
This year, we are being more intentional about the time spent in advisory. The "9th block" on schedules is the advisory class that students to which students will be assigned. This will be a 20 minute "class" where students will have a teacher that mentors them, helps them with their studies, and conducts life-ready lessons. Students will attend this class from 10:35am-10:55am between 2nd and 3rd blocks on A day and between 6th and 7th blocks on B day.

New MISD Electronic Device Policy
The MISD Board of Trustees approved a new MISD Personal Electronic Device Policy. Please CLICK HERE to see the MISD guidelines on the policy.
Please know that MHS students will be allowed to use their phones in the hallways during passing periods, before school, and at lunch. The only place that there will be no cell phone usage allowed is during class times.
I also wanted to make a correction regarding personally owned laptops. It was originally stated that students would not be able to bring their own laptop devices and use them in class. This has been changed. Students MAY bring their own laptops and use them in class.

MHS Safety Protocols
Front Office Screening
All visitors are required to present their government issued identification when arriving at MHS. Upon ringing the bell at the front door, you will be asked to present your ID, state your business for entering the building, and then asked your student's name. Please be patient with us as we work to keep Mansfield High School safety a top priority!
Student IDs Required for All Students Every Day
Students will be required to wear their student IDs at all times during the school day. Any student who does not bring their ID with them will have to get a new one from their AP's office for $5. As always, their first ID for the year will be free. It is okay if your student does not have an ID on the first day of school. We have a plan to make sure every student has an ID during the first week of school.
No Food Delivery Service Will Be Accepted
Mansfield ISD has made the decision that no food delivery service will be allowed on any campus. Students will not be allowed to used service such as Uber Eats, Doordash, or Grubhub. The rationale behind this decision is to limit building access to any individual who does not need to be on campus. Any delivery ordered through any of these services will be turned away at the front door. Parents/family members are always welcome to deliver food for their students.
Exterior Door Safety
It is against school policy to open any door for any person at all during the school day. Whether it is an adult or student, no one should open an exterior door to allow a person to enter. Additionally, it is also against school policy to knock on a door to get someone to open the door to let them in. If you arrive on campus after 1st/5th block tardy bell, you must enter through the front doors and present your ID to gain entry.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications
Due to the federal government funds for meals expiring, all schools in Mansfield ISD will return to paid meals for the 2023-24 school year. The best way for families to apply for free or reduced meals is go to online at www.schoolcafe.com. If you would a paper copy of the application, you can pick one up in the front office of the school. For full information about lunch and breakfast, CLICK HERE for the MISD Student Nutrition page.
